kool dj dee came before mario
Born in Wilson North Carolina, Kool Dee and Tyrone came up from North Carolina to New York when he was 7 years old in 1963. We lived in Harlem, Brooklyn then we moved to the Bronx in the 70s. Dee was thirteen or 14. As Dee was growing up he was going to different clubs with fake ID to get in, also he were big for his age. Dee mother always gave parties and Dee stayed up listening to the music and watching people dance and having a good time. That's when Dee got interested in Djing. He followed Grandmaster flowers, Pete DJ Jones and other DJs of the era. At the age of 16 Dee received equipment with the help of his mother. Dee also was the president of the first division first chapter of the black Spades which was the largest gang in the Bronx at that time. Dee and Tyrone the mixologist his brother began playing in the Parks of Soundview bronxdale and Bronx River with Disco King Mario another Black Spade member. Playing music for The B- Boys also still playing in the clubs downtown as a professional DJ. Dee and Tyrone also played Brooklyn Queens Manhattan spreading hip hop wherever they went. Kool Dee and tyrone the mixologist has been recognized for having the first Crossfade mixer in the Bronx and for their contributions in the early seventies they are unsung but authentic hip hop pioneers
Hip-Hop did NOT come from Dancehall.
I'm tired of people other Black people from the islands spreading this lie and trying to take credit for OUR culture
a lot of Black islanders don't even like African-Americans, but always trying to take credit for rap music
Kool D and Tyrone, OG Black Spades dj's elaborate on this
@truth2you @Cadillac @Supper @K.O.N.Y @Father
if dancehall did have an impact we would hear it in the samples. As far I’m concerned all sampled music from hip hop comes from Motown, disco, soul, funk, and blues records.Hell, we didn’t even fukk with Dancehall during the 70’s, late alone Reggae outside some of the shyt from Bob Marley and his crew. Many New York AA/FBA/ADOS were vibin to nothing but Soul music, Motown, Funk, Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, and Disco at the time…Those are the real forefathers of Hip Hop. I’m sure Dancehall might’ve helped with Hip Hop’s birth and/or evolution in some way but its influence in Hip Hop is grossly overstated, most especially compared to the likes of Funk, Jazz, and Disco. Matter of fact, Southern nikkas were rapping before Hip Hop even existed as far back as the 1940’s if not earlier….Hell, fukking James Brown is the father of many MC’s and their styles…It could be argued that James Brown is the GOAT musician in not just ADOS history but general American and world history because that nikka is practically The OG Godfather of Funk, Disco, House, Hip Hop, Reggae, Rock n Roll, Contemporary R&B, Soul, GoGo, Pop, and both Prince and Michael Jackson
People who continue to repeat lies are simply stubbornly stupid at this point.
i guess i'll agree to disagree. Kool Herc is still the father. Listening to some random nikkas from Brooklyn isn't really factual information either. Kool Herc is in both the Smithsonian Institute as well as the Black History Museum as the founder of hiphop. I'll believe them over some random dusty nikkas from Bushwick lol
And let’s not forget one of the greatest ny producers of all time was from Texas.
one way or the other, facts and truth will always come toward the light no matter what
I notice more people are starting to understand the truth and realize it for what it is that Herc didnt make shyt. And where hip hop really comes from
