sunday topics:

Denver shooting - Time to ban guns? Yeah or Ney.
Young Hussein vs Money Mitt - Who won the news cycle this week?
Life is Good.....or is it? We dissect Nasir the Don's latest.
Climate change hoax..how honest people can defend themselves from the propaganda
Atheist Pricks vs Religious zealots - Who gets on your nerves more?

Lets do this at Sunday at nine ya'll. I hope my internet will hold out!:sadbron:

The rest of it is cool, but the bolded? :rudy:

Come on bruh, I'm all for tackling religion, but for such a weighty and important topic, I'm sure we can approach it in a more intellectual manner than that.

I'm not for the Nas album discussion. Only because there's been overkill of that this week and even an album review of it on the front page. Granted I haven't been around that often. It's just something I thought I'd say. VVD's also right about that last topic.

Quite frankly you're missing a chance to talk about globalization (I didn't hear the podcast on American decline so forgive me if you already have) in light of that controversy about the USA clothing being made in China, the advertisements Obama ran talking about Mitt shipping job's off, etc. That's great segway from talking about who won that round of debates. How should the US adopt to globalization? Are we being ignorant when we complain about jobs being shipped off when that allows us to practice the life we live? There's so much to go with there...I'd suggest specific things to talk about but I don't even know if you guys would go for the idea.

I think talking about Nas album would be appropriate for the "overtime" segment at the end after we've gotten through the most serious topics and we just start freely talking.

I'm still holding out for a more Higher Learning discussion on hip-hop maybe in a later episode. Not about who's the best emcee or whose album is hot, but a discussion about the cultural and sociological implications of hip-hop. That could be interesting.

Yeah personally I would love to talk about Lil Wayne, The Bird Man, Jae Millz, Big Shane, Meek Millz, and BRICK SQUAD's cultural, sociological impact on hip-hop and their listeners.

That's a great topic. You know what, the Colorado stuff should be the crux of this discussion. Gun control, etc. The problem is that enough facts haven't leaked out yet. I don't know if there's enough to go off of yet.

Weve all been talking to each other for years about gun control

I know that. I mean in this specific instance, what are the facts? It's better to wait until you know the whole story.

the US govt is one of the biggest arms dealers in the world... how is that for gun control :stopitslime:

anyways, we should create a public poll with all the suggested podcast topics, and let everybody in higher learning vote on what topics they wanna hear on the show... that way the PEOPLE choose the podcast topics

there are 2 many chefs in the kitchen, people can add their 2 cents but the podcast moderator should have the final say on what the topics are

Not to interject too much, but I would prefer if topics were ran by me before finalized. HHR does a good job with topic selection, but I think the two of us would do a good job in a balanced final topic selection. I said this to Leyet earlier, but I understand that you guys are the ones participating in the podcast and I'm really just the liason to bk (another reason shyt should be sent to me earlier so that I can send it to him and we can have an announcement on the site = more attention), but I have to have more input in this stuff. I'm going to edit the original post in a second. But instead I never know exactly what the topics are until Hip Hop says "these are the topics." Debating about them isn't really all that helpful for me when I'm trying to get the podcast attention when there's no sign of what's going in until he says, "we're discussing this." Which was nearly at the last minute again. We might have to exchange gmails or something because I'm on g-chat all the time.

If we were doing this on a Thursday, then I'd understand because then it wouldn't be until that morning where we knew topics. But if it's Sunday? Seeing how the news basically stops on Thursday. By that morning we should be good to go with topics. It should be something that's we're watching as the week goes on.

But that brings me to another point, the only reason I want to have more input is because I get the feeling that being a moderator, I watch the boards more than a lot of you (though recently that's questionable I know). If you intend to keep this podcast as just a reading group/book club type thing for just us then that's fine. But if you're looking to get as many listeners as possible then you cannot have a discussion for 25 minutes about philosophy. That can be something separate, but on the main podcast, that will get fast forwarded and lose more people than it gains. If you do that, you're making a podcast for yourselves as opposed to one that you're proud of and that listeners will listen to. BTW, I think you're all smart enough to have Olbermann like segment that's both funny and to the point about stupid shyt that has been said during the week. Like a minute or two to change pace and just for the sake of clowning the dumb stuff we hear during the week. (But that's just me). I have more to say, but I'll just leave with these last two points.

Leyet's idea about opening a poll is good only in a limited sense. It's good in the sense of having the listeners recommend a topic or two, but the point of the podcast is to talk about things that people are talking about and things that they're not talking about. If it's only about things that people are aware of then it loses some of it's value. Somethings people don't realize are important until you tell them. Further, you don't have a big enough audience yet where a poll like that would truly be a representative sample.

Oh, and one more thing, I know 9PM is the "ideal" time for VVD and some others but you'll never get a lot of viewers at that time. It's why I don't even listen live. You're running right up against HBO and Showtime's major shows. At that point, the Arcadium will have everyone's ear. Entertainment is watched more than news, you know this. Also, people are getting ready for the work week and another news cycle will be starting in like 7 hours. So if you're looking for live listeners you have to pick a different time. I mention that only because you're more likely to get discussion in the actual podcast thread when people are listening live. It gets good views regardless though.

Again, I'm not sure where you guys are looking to go with this. Some seem to be thinker bigger whereas others seem to be thinking smaller. I'm just throwing stuff out there, but I'm very good about checking PMs and I like to think I have a good eye for spotting topics that will garner discussion or attention. Otherwise, Life is Good :ahh:

Yeah, I got enough complaints from all over lol. Besides, my summer job is almost over so that font's purpose is virtually done. :stylin:

I didn't realize there would be so much controversy over topic selection. This thread has literally been idle for two week with only scant suggestions here and there. I simply chose a few from each poster and put them up.

And no i aint running shyt through you Barnone. :rudy: Until i start recieving a check from you for my time, then I'll consider it.

A poll wouldn't be a bad idea however...:ehh:
