I'm slowly coming to this realization. That and there's a disconnect from the higher ups.

The bosses are workaholics with no real hobbies and probably don't like being home. They don't seem to understand that not everybody has this burning passion for the company. And when you aren't passionate about something you aren't going above and beyond working long hours everyday. People just want to do satisfactory work then go home.
This is 100% on the money.

One thing yall might consider thought, is that this could potentially backfire. Instead of having to hire locally and have people be willing to relocate. businesses can cast a wider net. Now you competing with dudes from Pakistan for that job

If India and Pakistan were so 'elite' they wouldn't be 3rd world countries. All that talent and they can't figure out how to clean up the country?

Doesn't matter, just a pure numbers argument. Instead of competing with every accountant in a 100 mile radius for that accounting job. Now you are competing with every accountant nationwide and potentially globally for that job.

Control, that's it. The work got done regardless so it's not a production issue

The messed up part about it is potentially losing the ability to telework. Feds had those options before covid. Most have been hybrid for years
This here.

Its all about control

Oh yeah to you Trump voters. fukk you, die slow.

Why would an American corporation want Indians to have access as accountants? I think a lot of y'all are really overestimating what Indians can do, like they are smart in everything and have no language barrier.

If you have to compete nationwide, I can see the issue. A company in Cali only hires Floridians because they're the cheapest. I'm not sure how to go about that other than taxing the company more.

It's about control and money. Productivity hasn't gone down in the slightest. But the money aspect is the empty offices downtown so the commercial real estate has taken a big hit as well as the businesses in the area that service them. But we're supposed to be in a capitalist market so by that definition those businesses are supposed to adapt to the changing market to compete or go outta business so the new innovators can move into those spots. But you know we have to pick the winners and losers lol. Plus I've noticed a lot of envy from those that have to still go a physical location lol.

I gotta say I'm blessed to work for a remote only company
there is no office to go to back to, only a corp mail box for address/bureaucracy type shyt
they've said the money they save on office leasing/services they can allocate to us (6 figs/health and dental fully covered for example)
not only do I save on gas and rush hour stress, but being treated like an adult (no micromanaging, no clocking in/out, no mandatory boomer office shyt) makes me employee of the year lol. I've been on the other side (commute from hell, mandatory office fun, Mrs. Joyce microwaving her fish plate and stinking up the whole joint) and never again if I can help it. WFH for life!
:blessed:

What is the fixation on fukking indians? I said nationwide and globally. There are more than just indians out there.

A dude from cali can just as easily take your job as a dude from NYC since if it is fully remote. The entire planet is not going to have a language barrier.
