Doctors think it was hereditary from the tests they ran

Doctors recommending low sodium diet now and not much beef, fried foods, or proceeded foods. Cardio was LACKING but I did bike work once a week at home.

Breh if you're 30+ get on a routine ASAP. Make time to go on daily walks/jogging/bike riding start 3 times a week. Make it a habit to where it becomes part of your life no different than brushing teeth, or walking up/down steps without thinking. Also maybe consider a pescetarian/vegetarian/vegan diet

Last year around this time i ended up in the hospital and learned i have heart failure.

Been taking the medications since then, and in september i had another test and my EF#s were actually at or above whats considered “normal”

My dad was diagnosed with HF in the late 90s and he’s still kicking around now.

The medications work. Take them and change your lifestyle the best you can. I had to really curb my beer drinking and change my eating habits.

I feel a lot better now than i have in a long time. Lotta stuff i thought was just how it feels to get older was because i was actively sick and my heart wasn’t pumping as efficiently as it should have been.

Take your diagnosis as a wake up call to take better care of yourself. Good luck.

Thanks breh I appreciate this. I really made this thread because I wanted to hear stories like yours to give myself a reason to be hopeful. Can I ask what caused your heart failure? And what were your symptoms?

Prayers for all the brehs in here who have posted.

We all can do better in some way.

Thank God, I'm over 40 and on no prescriptions at all, but I know I can still do better and need to

High blood pressure is a killer, especially with black folk. Buy a monitor and check your BP regularly. Hope you get it sorted. Might need to change your diet and if you're not athletic, start exercising.

I didn't eat much tbh, I tried to do small portions and I don't eat fried food. I did smoke black n milds though :francis: Thanks for the best wishes, a brother tryna live and appreciate the love.
The smoking will do it. It put an extreme amount of stress on your cadriovasular system.

Glad you're still with us, glad you're making progress, and I hope everything works out for the best brother.

It's one of my bigger fears about aging. I hear it's genetic though. It's lame how some people can eat whatever and be lazy and be fine until their 70s, whereas; others can be great eaters and active but still be knocked out by cardiac arrest, arythmia, and other heart failures in their 50s and 40s .

I was reading about skinny, healthy grover Washington dying from this sht in the 90s and it low key made me angry. From what I hear, your youth masks the issues, but they were always present even before symptoms and failed tests.

Stay strong @Born2BKing . I have a grandfather who got hit in his mid 50s, and they put him on a 12 pill daily regimine that forstalled the progression and he is still going strong today. And he kept a mediocre diet and minimal exercise til this day. Crazy as it sounds, I truly think it's the science that will save us. Just get your lipitor and other drugs, and you'll be fine. You can't eat and exercise your way out of structural issues with your heart. Don't dodge those meds
This is not true

1. Dont buy into that hereditary shyt. The mind is powerful. If you accept that hereditary shyt you are good as dead

2. Exercise (Walks, jogs, gym, active in general), water, sleep, intermittent fasting

3. Use meds temporarily until you change your lifestyle

Sending love, light and healing energy your way.

You got this ❤️❤️❤️
