Thanks breh I appreciate this. I really made this thread because I wanted to hear stories like yours to give myself a reason to be hopeful. Can I ask what caused your heart failure? And what were your symptoms?
They think it’s hereditary since my dad has it.

We took DNA tests but it was inconclusive.

Drinking too much and not taking care of myself probably contributed to it too.

My symptoms were pretty mild. I had a dry cough i couldn’t get rid of and it just felt like my lungs weren’t able to fully expand and process oxygen. Sometimes it almost felt like an anxiety attack. I thought i was just getting older and going through some shyt. Or i thought i had pneumonia.

I ended up going into the hospital cause i coughed up some blood.

Through testing they determined my EF was really low which caused fluid to build up around my lungs.

I felt better with just one dose of the diuretic pill.

They gave me probably same 8 pills you say you are on. They said it’s what they prescribe everyone with HF.

That was last December. They were saying if my EF didn’t improve they would start considering implanting a defibrillator in my chest.

I’m september i got another MRI and my EF had greatly improved. No need for the defibrillator, but they said i should keep up with the medicine.

There’s hope breh. Just gotta take care of yourself.

I have an appointment today and they will discuss implanting a defibrillator if my EF hasn't improved to where they think it should be. I have been feeling better though and taking my medicine religiously, so I am hopeful. I used to get out of breathe bad walking and especially going up steps but not anymore. Another thing was I would fill fluid in my lungs at times but that's gone away as well. Thanks for your testimony breh, shyt means alot. You always been one of my favorite posters going back years. How did you change your diet? Did you quit drinking all together?

Drinking WAS my diet.

Ironically through a weight loss journey i trained myself that i could drink as much beer as i wanted and still lose/maintain my weight.

Drink a 6 pack and eat some lean fish and veggies, hit the gym was my Diet.

Looking back now it was crazy i did years of living like that. I had turned beer into food, and when i got hungry i would literally crave beer instead of food.

So now i drink much less by eating more. 3 meals a day for the first time in my life, and i don’t crave the beer as food anymore.

Still drink socially but i try not to drink at home by myself anymore.

It’s still a struggle but i’m doing a lot better now

It's one of my bigger fears about aging. I hear it's genetic though. It's lame how some people can eat whatever and be lazy and be fine until their 70s, whereas; others can be great eaters and active but still be knocked out by cardiac arrest, arythmia, and other heart failures in their 50s and 40s .

I was reading about skinny, healthy grover Washington dying from this sht in the 90s and it low key made me angry. From what I hear, your youth masks the issues, but they were always present even before symptoms and failed tests.

Stay strong @Born2BKing . I have a grandfather who got hit in his mid 50s, and they put him on a 12 pill daily regimine that forstalled the progression and he is still going strong today. And he kept a mediocre diet and minimal exercise til this day. Crazy as it sounds, I truly think it's the science that will save us. Just get your lipitor and other drugs, and you'll be fine. You can't eat and exercise your way out of structural issues with your heart. Don't dodge those meds

Nah dont listen to this at all please and thank you.

As far as I know I don't have heart problems but my BP has never been great (despite being thin) and heart disease runs in my family :francis:

Go to the doctor and get an EKG and stress test. Don't risk it, put your fears aside.

stay positive breh
my dad has had a leaky heart valve for like 40 years, when he went to the dr 2 years ago the dr is like if you don't get this fix soon you won't live to see 60, my dad was already 68 and he's still alive today.

Wow it went undiagnosed for 40 years?

Just loss my dad to heart failure. Never got "sick" before. Everything seemed to have happened quickly, but I know the cause was from years of not properly taking care of himself. Way too young. I'm glad you're of sound mind to treat it and hope you stay healthy man. I hope any brehs here in the late 30s-early 40s (really everyone) are making an effort to get checkups. Don't wait until something bad happens to establish good habits

I am dealing with it now and had an echo test done on Friday and get the results tomorrow. I started having the issue in September, so not getting my hopes up that my EF % has gone up much. Just wondering if anyone has dealt with this and has any thoughts, tips, etc?
Had a rare arrhythmic condition called WPW. Heart would speed up then the fluttering feeling of heart trying to settle down. I got a cardiac ablation where the DR ran a probe up an artery to my heart and zapped the main vein on the heart . It's been a godsend having the procedure done. No more racing heart, no more feelings of heart stoppage, no more fluttering
