Didn't know this thread existed but have been listening to this Pod from the jump, glad to see there is a thread with some solid discussion going down :salute:

Where the fukk is Jay :damn:?!?!

Project Innocence sounds interesting.

I don't like Googling anything on the show because I'm afraid of coincidental spoilers.
Like now on the Project Innocence site I found a list of the people they got out. I did not see Anand's name on the list. Does that mean they couldn't help him because he's guilty? Has Sarah concluded her investigation and Anand is staying in jail? Is he out and are they keeping that info to themselves until it's all over.

From what I understand Sarah Koenig investigation is ongoing, she mentioned in an interview she was about 65% sure where this whole story will end, interview can be heard here,

I think the biggest confusion for me is now around Stephanie, friends with both Adnan and Hae, and girlfriend of Jay, supports Jay throughout the situation (showing up to his sentencing is evidence of this) but not only will she not talk to NPR about the case, she didn't want to talk about it with her friends during the investigation. I understand it's an uncomfortable subject but the fact that her friend who was interviewed said they kind of lost touch over the whole incident makes me wonder.

One more thing I found interesting, based on the interview with the first juror it seems that her decision of Adnans guilt was based off of what kind of a kid she thought Jay was, sounded to me like the cringe worthy, lecture style questioning by the defense attorney helped Jay quite a bit. Seems like the defense strategy was to point blame on Jay rather than pointing out the holes in the timeline, evidence, etc. I'm no lawyer, maybe this was the right strategy to employ but to me it seems like not having Adnan take the stand and Jays calm and cool style of responding to the defense left the jury feeling pretty confident about Jays innocence and in turn Adnans guilt :yeshrug:

Dap/Undap with a neg pending breh :what:

Part of the intrigue is not knowing whether or not there is a conclusion to the story and you come in and crush the buildings with an interview in which she states it's the investigation is incomplete :beli: :wow:

Put the rest of that shyt in the spoiler too.

Those jurors sounded horrible. They sent Adnan to jail cuz as the one lady said about jay, "why would he lie about that." How about the fact that he was facing a life sentence for murder himself? He got off with just probation. I'd try to put it on someone else too. The legal system is fukked up

Yeah, that's some dumb shyt too. That lawyer seemed awful. She should've put Adnan on the stand. They say its often the case that the defendant won't testify cuz their past digressions will come out, but that wasn't the case with Adnan. He was a good kid without a rap sheet who was also charming. That probably could've swayed the jurors. Plus what's the deal with there being 2 trials? I don't remember them explaining this

Apparently it's pretty common practice for a defendant to not testify in their own case, still though the fact that Adnan didn't testify definitely helped the jurors decide his guilt.

On the other hand maybe he didn't testify because the defence thought his "i can't remember" defence would be picked apart. When Sarah interviews Adnan a lot of the time his story sounds pretty weak, a prosecutor drilling him with questions over the course of several days may not have gone so well for a young Adnan. Another possibility is the defence thinking they didn't need Adnan to take the stand, maybe they looked at the evidence and figured there was not enough to convict him and having him take the stand was an unnecessary risk.

late to this wonderful podcast, which is kinda good since I was able to listen to 8 straight episodes

Whoa just listened to ep 8..I thought Jay was white :mindblown:

Adnan says at the beginning that one thing that stood out about Jay was that he listened to White music, and they went to a predominantly Black school
