Has a player ever had as big an impact post-retirement on the NBA as Kobe Bryant?

In what universe? Even with the media trying their hardest to make him the face of basketball, Kobe's been more popular GLOBALLY by a wide margin than LeBron could ever hope to be.

Just go back to the 2008 Olympics in China. Kobe was literally a God over there. Nobody knew or cared for LeBron. That shocked the American media when they got there, cause they were already trying to push Kobe out back then in favor of LeBron. Too bad the public disagreed.

And right now you're seeing it in the NBA among the players. Kobe is way more revered by his peers than LeBron has ever or will ever be.
LeBron is putting young black boys and girls through college and is one of the FEW black athletes doing so.

Kobe is more revered because he has a more aesthetically pleasing game. Kobe will drop a loud 40 5 5 And Bron will drop a quiet 30 8 8. People tend to gravitate towards more attractive things even if said attractive things have glaring flaws. You can see this in sports, real life and even in other countries.

Funny cause I think 5-2 vs 3-5 proves its LeBron with the glaring flaws vis-a-vis Kobe if we are talking which style is more effective.

LeBron's style is more effective from an analytics point of view cause he's very ball dominant, plays close to the rim, and plays on teams that prioritize giving him room to drive rather than surrounding him with players with more varied skills. Compare that to Kobe who plays a more aesthetically pleasing style that has a higher degree of difficulty so analytically his individual numbers suffer a bit. But unlike LeBron because he's more versatile he doesn't demand everyone else on the team change their game to suit his skills. Thus, Kobe was able to play with traditional low post bigs like Gasol and Bynum who could pack the paint with defenders closing out driving lines for Kobe but would help him win rings in the long run because their size would allow them to dominate the boards and they could cover for Kobe with points in the paint if Kobe was off from the outside.

If we're comparing Kobe and LeBron, Bron is the one with the glaring flaws NOT Kobe. 5-2 vs 3-5 all but proves it.

But I do see you posting in everyone of them. If nobody responded to the threads I wouldn't post them. But obviously there is a market for daily Kobe threads since you are my #1 client.
It's not even about Kobe it's that you post pure bullshyt to try to influence people. You're in here lusting for the agenda-free media of CHINA (you probably don't have enough international awareness to know how stupid that is) and you're denying that Kobe got treatment here that no other players get. You talk as if he was some pariah who never got appreciation, never had opposing arenas chanting for him, never had ESPN sucking him off relentlessly, etc. WTF is wrong with you?

In terms of internal and global politics, they obviously have an agenda. But when it comes to a foreign sport dominated by black men, the Chinese media has no incentive to drive an agenda one way or another. In China the people freely choose to adore Kobe above all else.

Tell me what reason the Chinese government would have to promote Kobe over LeBron? If anything given the fact Kobe is named after a Japenese steak, there is more reason for the Chinese to dislike him because they dislike Japan.

Do you think Kyrie Irving, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Russell Westbrook, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Zach Lavine, Devin Booker, and Jayson Tatum need help as well?

Cause they're the Kobe stans that are proving me with the material to make threads like this.

Be mad that your favorite player's favorite player is Kobe.

He grew up a fan of magic.

Basketball is a team sport. Kobe had Shaq putting in MOST of the work for those 1st 3 rings and his 4th came against a one man team lead by Dwight Howard. He faced pretty trash competition in The Finals outside of Detroit and Boston.

LeBron on the other hand faced a gauntlet. 1st Finals against The Spurs when he was what 21? That was a one man team led by himself. 0-1

Then he faces Dallas. That was entirely on him. If he hadn't of sat on his ass all day and actually tried to develop a Jumper or post game years earlier, then that's an easy win. 0-2

OKC.1-2

Spurs. 2-2

The next year, the Spurs shoot like 65% for an entire series and Bron is the only one that shows up. Boris Diaw played great defense on him. I read something on Reddit where it showed that he actually did a MUCH better job on him than Kawhi. 2-3.

Then his 2nd and 3rd options get hurt and he still manages to carry a team full of support players to 6 games. JR was ass this series. 2-4

They beat GS. 3-4

Golden State adds the dude who was widely believed to be the 2nd best player in the league. KD had been only SLIGHTLY below LeBron for the past 3 years. KD imo is a better offensive player than Jordan and nikkas expected Bron to be able to cover him....at the age of 32:snoop:. 3-5

Kobe would've had the same record if he was given the same team and same opponents.

The Chinese stan the fukk out of american pop culture. It's not a meritocracy. You really think China has am army of people prepping to stan Lavine, Wiggins, Tatum, etc? :heh: They would vote 2017 Derrick Rose over any of them.

Also Tim Duncan has been retired just as long and ain't nobody said anything about him. Not even the Spurs who didn't miss one beat with him gone winning 60+ games once again.

Kobe is by the far the most influential player in NBA history. Even Jordan didn't have his fingerprints all over the league after he retired like Kobe does now.

That's cuz there was no social media and smartphones when MJ left in 2003.

Regardless MJ still has heavy influence to this day despite all this.

Zach LaVine will be a starter in the 2019 all-star game AND he will be top 3 in scoring by the end of the 2018-19 season.

He's that good.

Future star is me being kind. Future SUPERSTAR is more appropriate.

I told people during summer league he looked like T-Mac and if he could figure it out in The League he would have it

Players who admire lebron are JUST coming into the league. Regardless many do look up to Kobe but honest his and jordans game are much easier to copy (he is just a less athletic version of him to me). Most of lebrons game is athleticism/bbiq/court vision. Basically a bunch of unteachable shyt.

No one is checking for Bron like that.. he was long ago written off as a bytch but most NBA players. Nice try though
