I thought the album was pretty trash. I'm a big R&B fan, but this wasn't it.

For one, it's 21 tracks. Felt like a lot of filler. I liked the singles that released months ago and maybe a few others, but about 10+ songs could have been kept off the album.

I think the big problem is what sound is she going for? The tracks with the rappers are trash. The album is all over the place. She got some hip hop sounding tracks, but also some slow ass boring tracks. Go listen to her debut tapes and then compare to this album. It just feels so watered down, I wonder if she even thinks it is quality.

I want to like H.E.R. but I think she is just too mainstream and she is just going to do whatever the label wants her to do. She won't create her own lane like Summer Walker or Snoh Aalegra. She will push the mainstream. She made it though can't hate on her, she making big money and is one of the biggest R&B artists. I almost never like the big mainstream artists, because when you go mainstream you lose the authenticity. I just don't see much authenticity in her music now.

Of course but it would be better if she actually did write majority of her stuff along with others. But she is talented nothing less.

Would it really matter though? If she was writing the majority of her work and you found yourself not liking it, would it really have mattered as much? If you like the songs and find her talented, why does it matter that she doesn't write everything?

It would be just better if she actually wrote most of her stuff. She’s basically a manufactured artist. Who knows how long her shelf life would be.

She sings in the same boring tone. (This is someone who saw her in concert twice). Why can’t she do uptempo stuff sometimes? :mjtf:
