GTA V PC(Definitive Edition) Thread

Something is wrong with my shyt (or it could just be all the fancy AA and everything, and I mean everything turned up to max). I'm gonna be fixing it tonight. (I hope...)

It could be a driver issue or something else. Who knows. I just finished the computer up yesterday.

Son there has to be somethin goin on there...my cousin just bought a single titan x and he maxed out everything at 1440p with no drops...and he plays at 4K with 60fps with aliasing turned off..And he still has great performance...

Yeah, I don't know what's up. Could be anything. Hopefully I can fix it. I really hope it's not a z97 issue with the pci-e 8 x 8 in sli. Everybody says it isn't, but I dunno. I can't fix the 8 X 8, as z97 is limited like that. You need x79 or x99 5830k or higher to get pcie gen 3 16 x 16. I don't wanna spend another thousand (or likey $1500) on a x99 setup. I like my 4790k

I haven't even tested any other games yet either. 3d mark scores is on point, but I haven't really tested it other than that. I finally got my monitors, so I can test 3 and 6K now.

I'm also on a HDD. That could affect performance too. I might try to move it over to my ssd if all else fails

MSAA off

grass - high

v-sync - use nvidia control panel for regular or adaptive. you might need to alt-tab/alt-enter to get triple-buffering to work (if you see v-sync pulling the framerate down to 30fps)

and don't get too crazy with the 'extended viewing distance'. I keep mine around 33%

I dialed my soft-shadows down to "softer" instead of "nvidia pcss" to pick up a few frames

in general the performance seems to be cpu bound in the city (lots of AI, pathing, etc), and gpu bound in the country (grass, shadows, etc). kinda sucks cause I have to basically dial everything back so I can maintain 60fps in the country

just go watch Streamer House GTA strream (even though they corny as fukk, cant stand that stream) but they have a nice set up and vsync at 60 on full ultra everything and never dips below 60 EVER

I just tested it 6K with everything at very high, no aa and no vsync and I'm getting 45 fps even in the desert and in the hills with grass. Grass is at very high and not ultra though.

I dunno what was happening at 1080p, but the game runs fine for me at 6K. It is really well optimized.

Yeah, my shyt was just fukked up last night. It's running at 45fps even in the desert and places with grass at 6K on my system now. shyt was just weird last night. My system updated like 99 things on a restart, so that coulda been it. Or it coulda been the AA or vsync. I dunno, but it's running well now

It was my imported character from my 360 days. Hadn't used him since I sold the game in like Nov. 2013. Started at like 38 on PC.

last night I played for three hours and the game didn't crash once. It has crashed previously but I got lucky I suppose. I'm still using patch #2.
