Same deal with a majority of xbox games, they games don’t come on the discs anymore

But yall should have known thats what the digital future that everyone wants would bring.
First off it’s not even true that Xbox games aren’t on the disc.

Second you can stop with this dumb as false equivalency on the topic.

When Sony shuts the servers down, GT7 will die with them.

When Microsoft shuts the servers down(which they usually don’t do for a long time) Forza will still function as an offline game.

Don’t play dumb, you only make yourself look like a fool :manny:

Lie to yourself, not to me. Once those xbox servers go offline there will be no way for you to install the majority of xbox games from disc

Don’t matter cause you got some random Twitter to say it. Majority of Xbox games can be played directly from disc.

Just look at the first reply to your tweet.

It’s an actual video of someone installing and playing a game offline that, that Twitter account claimed couldn’t be done.

You know actual evidence, not just some words from an anonymous Sony stan

Furthermore it doesn’t matter if a game can be played directly from the disc majority of games need a day one update to function in the way they are supposed to be played.

Elden ring is fukked straight off the disc. Cyberpunk, fukked straight off the disc.

Returnal, fukked before the update
Returnal's Day One Patch Is 10GB, Improves Performance, Fixes Bugs, and More

Spiderman was bricking fukking consoles before an update.
'Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered' Is Reportedly Bricking PlayStation 5 Consoles

And so on……

So yeah technically you can play the games directly off the disc without a patch, but that’s nowhere near ideal. For most games that day one(or two or 3)patch is essential.

At the end of the day they still work, the game is on there. They may be buggy but the games are playable, don’t confuse that word. Big difference from a game being on the disc fully playable and buggy (the way most reviewers play it) then not being able to play the game off the disc at all, which is the argument here

Barely :stopitslime:

In your hypothetical doomsday scenario where servers are just shut off, The spiderman disc is literally a console killer.

No, most reviewers get the patch. They will usually tell you how far along the game has come as they get updates.

GT7 don’t work either way :francis:

No i assure you most reviewers play games well before the day one patch.

And GT7 is one game out of the entire sony 1st party library, where as its the complete opposite on xbox. I don’t have a doomsday scenario, im not the one making a thread about servers going offline and killing a game you are

You’re throwing stones in a glass house

Yes they play them before the patch, but they also usually get the patch at sometime before writing the review.

This thread is about GT7, focus.

And Xbox actually doesn’t have any “single player” games that can’t function offline

And again for the record there’s nothing wrong with “always online “ there can be lots of advantages to having an ongoing connection. Problem is GT7 has none of them. There’s literally no reason for it to be “always online” other than to push microtransactions. That’s the problem with GT7. We also know Sony will shut down the servers at some point. GT6 servers are already dead.

We don’t have any precedent of Xbox shutting down update servers. You can still download updates on Xbox 360 :wow:

But as usual you will play dumb and obfuscate the point, so you can post dumb tweets an make stupid ass comparisons:mjlol:

Yup it's why this whole game preservation is a big gimmick.

I love physical copies but I been moved past it unless it's a small or indie release for the most part.

If you bought any of the big popular games on disc hoping to have them decades later be playable :mjlol:

Imagine turning on spiderman on PS5 in 2055 with no internet, it loads and it bricks your vintage system:russ:

The game has changed, and gone are the days were you got everything on disc so it made sense to hold on and want physical copies.

The only time that is really still true is with goty editions and things like that.

:skip:dude he's replying to plays on PS5 so the Xbox whataboutism wasn't even necessary. GT7 got these brehs devouring their own.
