Im late as fukk to this thread.
Personally, my radars weren't going off like other frivolous instances. I read what everyone else read back then and didn't have any reason not to believe Cassie. Even instances like those Daylyt interviews all read like the truth being said in jest/zest
Watch for the moment when all these entertainers take a hard left turn, whether it be pro-black (Diddler in this instance), pro-Israel, pro-LGBT etc. Watch for them to align with Charlamagne or anyone willing to soft shoe to give these guys a platform again. It's always for self-preservation. Budden did it too back in 2019, 2020.
Give it another 10 years and we will have gotten all of the authoritarian shyt out of music. Gangs and tough guys won't be running record labels just like the Mafia no longer runs the casinos. Hell, those who are smart have already cashed out over the last three years, and went and took that money and did something else with it.
I think even since going all the way Diddly was a short sighted fool and was a net negative for the industry at large, from the cheap sample ripoffs, to managing his artists, and to the way he's always represented himself and those who stood close to him. No matter how much New York and the old guard wants us to believe it, he wasn't all that to us. He never was.
