FNL2 lost alot of steam toward the middle of the album. These are things people were saying the day it dropped.
When FNL2 dropped people were just happy to hear him on decent production with the abuse he put us through throughout the years. He did go off lyrically but
these kdot records feel inspired and creative to me...which is what music is about right?
You said this is the weakest TDE effort....why? Because you feel the songs are better right?
Lyrically hes one of the best out but let the kdot fans eat.
Let's address the bold.
- This isn't true. I personally think Battle Scars is a good song despite it being the worst on the album, but I understand why it's poppy sound isn't liked. That's it though. The rest of the album is strong throughout.
If you want to talk about things people are saying when a project drops, let's talk about how Good Kid, mAAd City has one of the weakest first first 3 track starts in recent memory. I understand the storyline purposes of Sherane being the intro, but it doesn't grip you like "No Introduction" and "Strange Fruition" did. Those two songs had me like
as soon as they finished and had me anticipating track 2. Sherane had me like..."Okay.....onto track number 2...."
bytch Don't Kill My Vibe is boring to me, Backseat Freestyle is HORRIBLE(nikkas like this bad A Milli rip off? Lol), and Art of Peer Pressure is good but could've been great if the beat in the beginning remained throughout the song.
The album truly starts for me when the INCREDIBLE song "Money Trees" begins. That's the song that first gave em that "No Introduction/Strange Fruition" epic feel. From track 5 through track 12 the album is pretty much perfection.
Understand I feel that all 3 projects are GREAT. nikkas can feel how they wanna feel because I respect all three artists and albums, but to me and my tastes it's relatively clear that LIG and FL2 are more consistent and smooth journeys from beginning to end.
- Yes K.Dot's album is inspirational and creative, but it seems you're trying to shyt on FL2 while praising it in that aspect. I would say "Strange Fruition", "Audobon Ballroom", "Lamborghini Angels", "Form Follows Function" and "Unforgivable Youth" are examples of extremely creative tracks. Please listen to them again, because as a whole FL2 is easily a more creative collection of work than GKMC in my opinion.
Speaking of creativity, are we going to act like GKMC is lyrically better than FL2 or LIG? Because it isn't. I would argue strongly that Kendrick Lamar took a step back lyrically compared to Section 80 for mainstream and storyline purposes. He STILL brought the bars of course, but that "O_O I GOTTA REWIND THAT"-ability just isn't there as much for me right now. The artistic creativity of the album pulls strongly from the skits/interludes while for Lu and Nas it came from the actual songs, concepts and lyrical content.
Welcome to vigilante, 80's so don't you ask me
I'm hungry, my body's antsy, I rip through your fukking pantry
Peeling off like a Xanny, examine my orchestra
Granny said when I'm old enough, I'll be sure to be all I can be
You nikkas Marcus Camby, washed up
p*ssy, fix your panties, I'm Mr. Marcus you getting fukked, uh
You ain't heard nothing harder since Daddy Kane
Take it in vain, Vicodins couldn't ease the pain
Lightning bolts hit your body, you thought it rained
Not a cloud in sight, just the shyt that I write
Strong enough to stand in front of a travelling freight train, are you trained?
Random note: I rewound that shyt about 20 times the first time I heard it.
- Are you implying I'm saying GKMC is weaker than H&C and Control System because I subconsciously feel it's better than FL2 and LIG? If so...my response is
- I'm trying to hate on K Dot eating by giving his great debut album a 4 out of 5 and saying it isn't better than Life is Good and Food & Liquor II? Seriously? Friend, I believe Kendrick Lamar is the third best rapper in the world. I don't have a hating bone in my body towards anything he's doing.
