After initial listens, I got Good Kid MAAD City as pretty solidly the best...gave me the same type of feel as the first time I heard Lupe's The Cool, and may have even been executed better....the skits do an excellent job of connecting the theme and giving the album a cinematic feel...I very rarely just keep albums in rotation and listen to them front to back after the first week or so after they come out (not to say I don't listen to them after that, but not usually all at once...more in a playlist setting with other material I'm digging at the moment) but I can tell this is gonna be one I'm gonna feel compelled to run back in it's entirety whenever I bump it...musically, I think it blows FNL 2 especially out of the water...Lupe has seemed to lose his way since the Cool in that regard...can't say that I've given his joint that much play after the initial roll out

Lyrically, I'ma give it to Lupgawd

Sonically, Kendrick shyts all over every option possible in this thread (where's RAP Music? :usure:) and conceptually, emotionally, nothing is touching it either

The production and the hooks on FNL II couldn't stand with the two albums, and that's what hurt it
Nasir definitely picked better beats for this album than previous ones in the past decade, but the production value on GKMC is higher from my view, and its just plain obvious that Kendrick's team paid more attention on the boards than Nasir's circle.

Come on, the vision for GKMC and everything that surrounds it is just much more focused and sharpened

Only argument here would be that Nasir is a veteran, this was his comeback album, its Esco the don, better beats, etc, etc...

:manny:

1. GKMC
2. Life Is Good
3. Food & Liquor 2

I'm also a way bigger Lupgawd & Nasir fan than Kendrick so :yeshrug:

All 3 are good albums to me, but Kendricks shyt is on another level from the other 2. Thats how an album is supposed to be made, with some cohesion and a point. And all of Kendricks music grows on me the more I listen to it, so Im not worried at all about the replay value. shyt I only liked 2 or 3 songs the 1st time I listened to section 80, and now a couple years later I can still put that on and run it straight through. There's not 1 skip for me on this album at all
