Sounds like the typical woman in love,or under the spell of man to me
I truly believe this would be the outcome for alot of women if they were isolated away from other women shaming them for being apart of this "relationship".
Lawyers,doctors,scientist,educated,uneducated wouldn't matter.
The only thing stopping alot of women is how outsiders and family would judge them. These women are cut off from that.
