Gladiator 2 - (Ridley Scott/Nov 22nd)

Dang yall harsh, I don’t think it was that bad.



Where they went wrong was actually making the movie. The first was such a masterpiece that there was no way this was going to live up to it. I feel the same way about Moana 2.

Movie would've benefited from a young attractive chick as a love interest. There was only what, 2 women roles but really only one. If you gonna go full on predictable cliche at least add some eye candy and titties. They spent all their money on sharknado quality great whites and hairless baboons.

I could easily see Eddie Redmayne in the role of Emperor Gata and getting his overacting on, if it was 2015.

Boring. Went to sleep. Main character is ass and unlikeable. Wanted Denzel to win as the bad guy...they went extra with the suspended disbelief. All that hand and cheek kissing was disturbing.

Baboon and shark scene were both stupid looking. There’s a gladiator series on peacock called those about to die, they had a similar scene except with alligators and it was better than what Gladiator 2 showcased

Honestly they movie could've benefited from more characters in general.
just comparing it to the last film, Russel Crowe had several friends amongst the gladiators that had speaking lines. So it made sense when he became the de facto leader. he clearly earned their trust. This dude had a bunch of nameless dude with no lines and they suddenly decided he was leader out of nowhere.
Like you said a romantic interest would have also added some depth to his character.

As much as i love denzel, (he charisma is limitless enough for him to shine in any role) but we have to admit his range is limited.
He can't do accents, and he can't really disappear into a character outside his comfort range. He needs to play a black american to reach his full potential in any role.
Thats not a jab though, this is the case for 90% of all actors. Some just fool themselves into thinking otherwise, ( i hate the bland generic middle america accent all these english actor bring when they play americans, none of them are good at it either.)

Could clearly hear Idris Elba's accent leaking out throughout the series. It was terrible and distracting, That was an awful example.

Daniel Day Lewis however is literally the best at it over every other actor in existence, I have given him credit before. Best actor of all time. disappears into every role.

Nah, he's too hammy and over the top to carry his own film or franchise. Just good as a character actor. I see sirius black levels of manic energy everytime he's on screen.

But you don't need to dig through every english actor in existance to try to prove my opinion wrong. My opinion can't be proven wrong for two reasons.
1) its my opinion. it is what it is
2) my opinion is correct. English actors aren't as good at american accents as americans are. Every example you show me i will find 5 american actors that would have been better suited for the role.

You hit the nail on the head. They could have given some lines to his fellow gladiators and it seemed like they were gonna go that route but nah. Even the bruh at the beginning I thought he was gonna be a friend throughout the movie but they let the baboons eat him. Smh.

Instead they made his relationship with the medicine man the main rapport. Also felt his moms acting got worse as the film went on.
