Finally found it. Ain't seen this shyt in over 10 years. This what I would show somebody to say the influence was clear.
Not the best example but you can catch some similarities here
Bolded is just delusionalThis is hip hop in a nutshell
Jermaine Dupri is trying to take credit for making it rain.
Asap wants credit for Air Force ones.
Tyga wants credit for snap backs.
Pusha wants credit for Bape
Stupid ass culture
B.G comes to mind when I hear this verse more than Gillie
From this......
To this......
My man definitely went up NYC/Philly
17 yrs old to 26 years old
Wayne back in the day....he was trying to stuff 100 words in every sentence....ending his bars messy sounding country af
This the first song I remember where I noticed his flow sounded "East Coast". Bars crisp, flow clean and that southern accent faded a bit
Crazy thing is Get Off the Corner was recorded in late ā99 when Wayne was 17ā¦ years before Gillie was ever thought of ā¦and he was already nicer than Gil has ever been
Itās WILD to see people making posts like this in 2023ā¦back in ā06 you could almost understand how someone, albeit blinded by east coast biases and simple ignorance to the caliber of talent Wayne was, could mistake the inevitable progression of one of the most naturally gifted rappers of all time with something elseā¦.but given the privilege of hindsight this shyt is almost unbelievableā¦we done seen Wayne become one of the GOATs, flip a million different flows, try a thousand different stylesā¦Nikka just renegaded Nasir fukking Jones barely a month agoā¦and muhfukkas still wanna attribute his emergence to some mediocre generic mixtape rapper that aināt never produced a silly solitary notable verse of note in his entire careerā¦.all of this despite Gillie being caught red handed flat out lying about writing shyt that was actually written in the mid 90s (the Go Dj hook), when pressed on the record if he ever wrote anything for Wayne categorically admitting no he hadnātā¦and all the way to today when in response to Stunna (the person he actually did write for) saying he never wrote not one single rhyme for Wayne, he didnāt refute any of itā¦but instead made goofy faces and doubled down with another new and hilarious lie about making more money than the owner of the most successful black owned rap label of all time
And he took from NYC/Philly rappers
IDK why it's so hard for yall to admit
Nikkas got no problem admitting Drake bit off the South but yall busting blood vessels trying to pretend that people in New Orleans rap like Wayne

By extras I mean shyt like thisā¦flat out liesā¦Wayne was putting out the SQ tapes back in like 2000-ā01ā¦ YEARS before gillie ever was with Cash Moneyā¦had been switched up stylistically and had become a fukking rap savantTruth.
It's common knowledge today, and it was back then.
During the SQ Up days, he flipped his whole sh*t when he got around Gillie. Ab-Liva was always with Gillie back then, and it saying it all the time, and that's how Pusha started up on Wayne stealing flows and rhymes. This is when the word was that Gillie was penning the bars. Gillie said as much in '04, but then said he got paid to "chill". Wayne was spending a lot of time in Philly and East Harlem from '04-'05. Especially around the time when he was trying to sign with Jay and Dame.
