I feel like the trailer gave away a lot but not really if that makes sense.
Also this is a great discussion movie , like I was telling my girl looking back at it you can tell his girl was in on it based on her reactions to Chris concerns and interactions.
1) if your bf tells you that yoir mother hypnotized him WITHOUT his permission after he TOLD HER NO she' should either be super upset or be like what ? No it must be a mistake or something that's a huge fukking violation we gonna talk about this .
2) she didn't react to his saying umm Georgina is touching my stuff and the little complaints she was apologetic instead of being like Chris maybe your being paranoid.
3) his being on display at the party and not being like mom dad etc this is not cool , imagine a women asking those questions about is blsck better and shyt to you in front your girl :lolbron:
But the movie played it that she could of been an unwitting pawn with the way she was acting with forgetting the day of the party , apologizing for her dad even the pictures may of been her being hypnotized and punished for loving black people .
Well...

She told him he was the first Black guy she'd ever been with.

And her mother being a hyponotist wasn't a huge deal b/c she probably viewed it as her parents just being overly pushy....in a kind of cute/embarrassing, "oh here they go again" way. And plus after the father mentioned he had been cured of smoking by the wife it wasn't a big deal.

Remember he had a theory with Georgina....he didnt explain it, but my take was he felt like she didn't like him maybe because he was "free".

And as far as him being on display, she still has the excuse that he's the "first black guy she's been with" so she didn't know how her parents and ppl at the party would react to him.

What I wanna know is, is Chris still slightly hypnotized somehow? Like if he ever hears another spoon in a teapcup will he revert? Is he still not smoking ever again?

Yeah I'm surprised nobody mentioned that.

If I have any beef with this movie, it's that
I figured out in the first 5 mins that Georgina and the other Black guy had been hypnotized by the mother. I wish they could have stretched out keeping her profession a secret for a little white

I figured the entire shyt out within the first 30
Minutes.

So you never thought Rose was on his side? :mjpls:

They obviously tried to drive home her being 'down' by rebuffing the cop, etc.

I honestly felt she was down up until she suddenly, "couldn't find the keys" :to:

and then

"You know I can't give you those keys" :demonic:

the funny thing, EVERYONE in this movie was " thowed off/weird" except for Rod and Chris. The parents were weird pretty much from jump, with the dad going on about the deer, the mom was just weird. I was never comfortable w/ them. The brother was weird. Everybody at the party was weird...they just had a weird/strange demeanor more than not. Rose was weird too, but she was just faking until the end.

The only two normal ppl in the entire film were Rod and Chris. :wow:
Which further subverts the movie..
when brehs are talking about the stomping..
People are missing that in most horror flicks the hero is so sloppy because he is angry. However, Chris had this controlled rage. There was no wasted motion. He was precise, direct, ironically or maybe this subtle on the part of Peele...truly IN CONTROL. The family saw just how much damage Chris could really do to them once he put his mind too it.

Actually I think that was a Buck, not a female deer. Which would make more sense. Bc in that scene there's two round lamps on each side of the Buck head. The Buck mantle would be representative of the male fallace. With the lamps representing the genitals. Also, it's in the room where they brainwash brothers while mentioning what their "purpose" is. So basically I took it to mean that they were saying the only purpose we serve to them is to reproduce (the black buck shyt), be hunted and die. It would be more consistent with the theme of the movie too. Bc remember she's scouting her next victim and googling "NCAA prospects". Scouting more black bucks. But I could be wrong. Great analysis tho.
How did I miss this :mindblown:

Makes sense with Peele standing in front of this pic for that article/cover art I posted.

The highway scene has so much too it.
It was used to symbolize bed bucks.
It was possible the friend's brains put into the deer. Which is why he stares at.
It was used to symbolize his mother dying in a hit and run.
Its also how he leaves Rose to die
Damn the layers to this :wow::wow:
ur right about this. And now it makes sense with the weird brother who was obsessed with Chris getting into MMA with "his genetics and build". That's why I said it seems like everyone in this movie was under some sort of hypnosis/alternate state of mind, except for Chris & Rod.

Among many questions I'd love to ask Jordan is if he meant to link Jeremy's MMA fandom/fixation to the idea some people have presented of UFC as a sort of reclamation for white machismo after black/latino fighters started to really dominate boxing (before the Klitschko's took over the HW division anyway)

But yeah there were many, many allusions to all the weird Mandingo shyt white ppl be on IRL that has you grinning outwardly but like :dahell: on the inside
If you noticed..
the brother seemed visibly upset after the auction. Almost jealous that he couldn't get Chris's body. Then he was further insulted later by the mom when she told him he was genetically superior to him so thats why she stopped the fight.

at first i thought Rose was on his side with how she was defending him but once all them white people showed up i was like :patrice: there's no way you don't know that your parents are this weird and they have equally weird friends

nah I didn't, because I caught the symbolism. Peep game and I respect Peele for the layers he put on this shyt.

Shorty was fine coming at the cop because that's what white people do, they will come to your aid and show false care when it's blatant racism ie. The KKK or Police.

But when it came to the REAL RACISM, the implied racism, the linestepping, sly remarks didn't effect her because she was part of it.

When I saw that I knew she was gonna flip.

To be fair I didn't think the grandmother and father had surrogates. I thought they were brain washing the ******s and selling them as slaves.

But I figured it out quick because I caught on to the message.

Still don't understand how this dude is married to a white woman.

In three days? :damn:
On a 4.5 mill budget.
Tyler Perry...who I don't knock for making the films he likes :whoa: should really branch out and find other smart writers/directors.

Guys like Peele shouldn't have to run to Blumhouse. A well told story thats DIFFERENT featuring black people in front and behind the camera can make bank.

Not saying he gotta do it all the time. Cause it shouldn't be all on him :yeshrug: But maybe find other talented writers/directors and help produce their stories.
