So I had a case of pneumonia back in late March, which got misdiagnosed by doctors in the ER as just the flu :snoop:
Since it was thought to just be the flu, I was sent right back home with a prescription for cough syrup.. all barely an hour after arriving to the ER. :snoop:

Well turns out that the pneumonia must've felt some type a way about the doctors not putting no respeck on it's name and rapidly turned into what's known as ARDS(Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome).

In short, ARDS is basically when your lungs fill up with fluid and you die(most of the time).

Luckily for me, I didn't go straight home(where I would've been alone) after leaving the ER. Instead, I went to my mama house. :to::whew:
I laid down, and not even ten mins later she had to call the ambulance because I was thrashing around unable to breathe(I don't recall any of this, doctors say probably because at that point I was delirious from oxygen deprivation). :damn:

Ambulance took me back to the medical center who realized immediately that:

A - they fukked up from sending me home back on my earlier visit; and..
B - that they weren't equipped to help me.

So I had to be flown by helicopter from that medical center to a hospital that could bring me back to life and get me breathing on my own again. :snoop:

Well, today I got the bill for that helicopter ride, a ride that I didn't even get to enjoy and have ZERO recollection of since, by then, I was completely unconscious and sedated :francis:

As soon as you said they didn't know what to do...smh. I knew you were messing with a hospital system in the south. Anyway, sue the first hospital for negligence. Period. Make them pay for that helicopter ride because if they had done their jobs right in the first place then you wouldn't have needed an emergency flight. And what do you mean they weren't Equipped to treat you???? Every hospital should be prepared to treat any type of respiratory distress. They just pissed me off.

Should have poked paramedic with that ninja-approved fingernail, got off and caught a cab to Greenviile...big ass hospital, 30 mins away with everything you need.
Fly you to Chapel Hill though..... :francis:

Edit: Reads actual post and see you were on the last leg....:wow:. Still surprised Raleigh or Greenville dont have those facilities, half the distance. Crazy.

If you had been practicing Brazillian Jiujitsu pneumonia would have been incinerated by your immune system before you even realized you were sick.

I guess nows a good time to start training. :usure:

Go to coding school OP, since the Triangle fuucked you over once, go back there and take a 3 month training session in a school there,

not always the case. americas health system sucks. we need single payer. its that simple. we need to all kick in. so if ish happens we dont have to think about it. every hospital, specialists, doctor is in network and paid at 100% with a copay only. all ambulance rides..truck or helicopter are 100% paid for maybe just a copay.

thats what we need. now yall see how real it is out there. so #1 get insurance. #2 stop voting for people locally, statewide and country wide(president/congress) that dont understand we need single payer.
If we went to a single payer system, do you know how long it take to get appointments? There is already a shortage of doctors now and long patient waits, can you imagine if we had a single payer system.

I already contacted one law firm about it just to test the waters, got shot down. Something about it not being anything I could sue over or something.
I've got another one I'm going to contact on my next day off though.

You have to focus on the fact that the doctor and nurses didn't perform a thorough physical assessment. Pneumonia can be life threatening although it's common and a healthcare professional would have discovered its severity while auscultating your lungs or viewing a scan of your lungs to find fluid buildup, plus the many other tests that can be done for pneumonia. Did they even do a scan? Did you take the cough suppressant they prescribed? because they should have told you that you Need to cough in order to prevent the fluid buildup...so No cough suppressants.

After you prove negligence on their behalf, then bring in the mental, emotional, physical and financial distress caused by their negligence. Connect that helicopter ride to the financial distress.

It's all about how you present your story to the lawyers.

I want my helicopter pilot license bad! Them dudes get paid!

Health insurance will only pay a portion of that you better do some serious research or file for bankruptcy.

Whoa can't you sue the hospital that discharged you for malpractice? That's a HUGE mistake.

You need to get a lawyer ASAP and say the ards gave you some side effects or something. It's their fault you ended up in a helicopter.

Hoping you get well soon, op.

God bless Canada :blessed:

Thank you. I'm back to 100%. No organ damage, no lung damage/scarring, no brain damage; all usual side effects of getting struck with ARDS. I've even been back to my boxing/running routine and I actually feel even stronger than I was before :wow:

I've heard mixed reviews about that G-Vegas hospital :usure:
It was my first time at UNC Chapel Hill hospital and it was awesome; the staff, the care, the facilities..just great all around. And they're the reason why I'm still here :yeshrug:
