Everything goes back to socioeconomic issues. Are black men abandoning their families because there's something inherently wrong with us or because black men have a harder time finding gainful employment? Our grandfathers weren't abandoning our grandmothers back in the 60s and 70s. They all had jobs at the local factory out of high school and could hold down a family/buy a house by the time they were 21

Are you a father? if you were and you actually loved your *kids* you would know that under no circumstance would you leave them, job or no job. and for the record I have a friend who doesn't take care of his son, his mother does. I've been trying to help him find a job, even offered to do his resume, know what? he rather hang outside all day like he's still 16. He's 29 now. Theres plenty of warehouse jobs, I know I worked a ton of them before I entered the I.T field. I even took a job to shovel sand, I hated it, but I did it for my son....stop with this shyt. and again yall find a way to bring white people into this as usual.

However you will find in the Black community men from all backgrounds and education levels defending Black men's right to not be shyt when it comes to their children, and placing the ultimate blame at women's feet.

At the end of the day, a man ultimately makes the decision on who to lay down with just as much as the woman does. He did not make any less of a decision to have sex just because he decided before she did. That's illogical. So in the end, every woman that a man has sex with is a woman that he decided he would have sex with. Men having sex with women that they didn't say yes to doesn't happen, so it is retarded that men try to throw it on the woman if a child results as if he had no choice but to have sex and hers was the only decision made.

What makes this mentality even worse in the community though, is that even the so-called good and knowledgeable Black men of the community support this behavior by saying it is all on the woman, reinforcing every other Black man's irresponsibility. In fact I would bet money that this prevailing mentality in the Black community actually creates more deadbeats. Because why would a man ever be responsible if he knows he will be well defended and someone else blamed in the cases where he isn't? In the end, y'all have essentially created an environment where a Black man can have second thoughts about being a father after the fact, and then feel justified to abandon the mother of his child and the child because she was "supposed to know" what he was going to do anyway.

But then you'll still complain about the result all this has on the community as if you aren't doing all you can to support Black men abandoning their children on a whim. Its mind blowing. I guess it is easier to pick on the mule, the Black woman, so you can keep feeling the Black man is blameless than to check each other and actually try to make the situation better.

It boggles my mind the excuses in this thread for the men who are leaving these women to raise children alone.

As though the men being bums is sufficient enough to excuse their actions.

We can all admit that the women made a bad decision in having sex with a particular man, but that in no way excuses the man from his responsibilities. These men choose to not be a father, it's not that they are incapable, it's that they know they don't have to so they choose not to and they are getting no flack for it because they have the perfect excuse apparently.

Let me break this down for you. In order for her to say NO or YES to you, you have to have already said YES in the first place. You get that right? You made a decision to have sex with her. Again, you are a grown adult. You know the way sex works and what it can result in before you have it (or at least you should). You know that in the pregnancy process, your choice begins and ends at where you put your seed. After that, because the process happens in HER body, your choice is gone. But you know that going in, because you are complaining about it. So YOU must protect YOUR interests and YOUR seed and ensure it never even gets that point. View it like the weather. You cannot control it. You can have handy a hat and raincoat and boots and if it rains you are protected. If you don't and you get rained on, you look stupid blaming the child for your wetness. Or looking around and seeing your neighborhood was flooded and washed away everything in the process when you were telling half of the neighborhood that it wasn't their responsibility to have a hat, raincoat, and boots handy.
