Now you see at the time I saw it as Kamala trying to make the tent as big as possible, but in hindsight, I can see where this was a misstep as too much focus was placed on that alliance.

too much focus was placed on it by who...

I lost your other post a week back or so when I was traveling but I disagree with nap all the time on here. I will give him credit for actually posting threads(something over the years I've encouraged more people to try to do) and sharing the occasional worthwhile article. I still try to make threads on here a on range of subjects and no one replies which is fine but lets at least discuss something... preferably new or interesting.

It really does bother me that so many members here were adamantly against Kamala despite knowing what electing Trump would mean for the black community and we're now seeing the affects firsthand and those same members have now chosen to ignore it, have stopped posting altogether, or doubling down on their lies.

Honestly, I have that mofo on ignore.

When I see posters who i think should know better engage with him it pisses me off, so I chose to check you that day.

But I was having a bad day. You are free to engage with who you wish. That was me being triggered.

A balancing act too far for Kamala?

How did Trimp manage to convince populists and billionaires he was on their side?

Yes he lied through his teeth, but if we assume both candidates were lying, why believe Trump, who has a history of lying about everything instead of Kamala? I genuinely can't understand it.

Difference is trump triples and doubles down on his lies , whereas democrats like kamala are scared to even combat ANY and every republican framing.
That's reasonable. I think the big question there, is could she have done it with a republican less polarising than Liz Cheney?

I'm not sure why she would need republicans and neocons apart of her campaign direction? I'd be like trump parading around tulsi gabbert, the entire dem electorate understands she's no longer apart of them.

Of course. Liz was one of the first and well known that was against Trump though. Adam kinzinger could have been another choice. The problem is for some even appearing on stage with any republican is an automatic deal breaker. If anything a better argument would be she went from focusing on her “opportunity economy” to “saving democracy” at the end.

Bernie is going to these republican districts hoping they forget their racism, homophobia, sexism etc in favor of economic unity to defeat fascism. These people would not be allowed in the same room if some people had their way.

You don't understand why she tried to get disenfranchised republicans away from Trump?

For me it seems like a reasonable pivot?

As long as you can do it and not compromise your ideals.

It feels like therein lies the crux of the issue.

Some folks see it as getting extra votes, some people see it as an outright betrayal.

that was an argument that was made at the time that was completely contradictory to what else was being said at the time

The argument that every vote counts has to apply to everyone, not just the group(s) you feel are deserving of attention. She was trying to win over disaffected republicans desperate for a reason to vote against Trump, not neo nazis

Edit: @jj23 you already beat me to the punch

@jj23 and that’s also why I have some people on quasi-ignore. You shouldn’t be taken seriously when you were just making intellectual arguments why Trump was the superior choice for black people a few years ago and now are berating people for being intellectually and morally inferior to you as he devastates communities literally across the globe

No I don't they aren’t even wanted in their own party, it would make more sense if they were electable.

@Loose @King Kreole

Is there any way the democrats could have messaged the overture to disenfranchised Republicans in your eyes without sounding like sellouts?

See, even if I don't fully agree with your PoV I finally understand the way you view things, and I can't disrespect you for having that view.

Thanks for putting up with me everyone. I actually learned something today.
