The ironic part of this post is this is exactly what democrats did when they brought out Richie torres bill Clinton in Michigan and doubled down on the fukk Muslims constitute movement with liz cheney :dead:

But hey let's court the imaginary 5 never trump republicans that I'm sure will help her win
weird that you can only read a poll when it's convenient

where's this level of basic analysis for losing 80/20 on trehs in sports :mjlol:

Is there any way the democrats could have messaged the overture to disenfranchised Republicans in your eyes without sounding like sellouts?
Yes. By pursuing a political program that exists beyond the partisan divide. Large scale public policies like universal healthcare, universal pre-k, free college, paid family leave, raising the minimum wage, ending wars, restoring democratic norms against oligarchic takeover, etc all have appeal across the political spectrum. Harris didn't credibly run on any of these things. My problem with the Harris campaign wasn't that she wasn't explicitly rejecting votes from Republicans, it's that she ended up having them be a central stakeholder in her campaign messaging and policy. She pivoted on immigration and adopted the right-wing Republican plan because she was afraid of these "disenfranchised" Republicans calling her soft. She pivoted on climate and abandoned her prior positions on the environment because she was afraid of these "disenfranchised" Republicans saying she was a hippie. She refused to pursue a moral position on the Gaza genocide and started touting "the most lethal fighting force" because she wanted to appease these "disenfranchised" Republicans. Her campaign didn't actually offer much in the way of hope for progress from the Biden years because she was too worried about what moderate Republicans would think, so she settled for just being the non-Trump figure. She tried to have it both ways and lost because of it.

I think what a lot of people miss is winning campaigns don't need to be RED or BLUE, they need to be both, on issues that most connect with voters. That's where Democrats can't quite catch up to, and what last winning campaign was really good at. Because most voters aren't politically well informed. They are all over the place ideologically.

The support gay rights, but they want lower taxes. They don't want war, but they want immigration crackdowns. They are against the murder of innocent citizens, but they want strong police in communities. The average voter is near incoherent ideologically.

do you have all that in your country?

The bolded is the exact problem of why democrats continue losing elections to Republicans, instead of running on populist ideas that translate beyond the partisan divide, they yield to the concept that they should just settle in the middle of the political division in hopes of not turning off republicans while additionally depowering their own bases excitement.
