Someone post this as a full standalone thread because it captures what I feel about this moment and it’s exactly what needs to be said about what the Dems are doing and how the states, orgs and attorneys are taking the lead while Schumer and the Senate Dems left America out to dry.

Not even, that man drove all the brehs and brehettes back to private practice and got the rest waiting for the moment their job is gone. Even the ones at not for profits with federal funding. It’s a stressful time. You have all these overqualified people competing for the same jobs. I think state governments in blue states may benefit to some degree but I feel for those who were connected to the Fed.

As the controller of a medical non-profit, shyt is going to wild for a while. We were told this year that our biggest state grant is going to be cut, we are estimated it to be in half. We are also told that our federal grants, in 2026, will be cut. Again, guesstimate of half. Thankfully, we aren't that dependent on grants but a couple of million dollars doesn't easily replace itself. The cfo was in my office for an hour today, talking about this and other things. As I've mentioned before, she's retiring next year and hopefully I get the role. What I or whomever else walk into is going to be a road filled with landmines next year.

I understand what Schumer is saying but a shutdown would have been better off the simple fact that people would have been able to single-handedly pinpoint trump as destroying the country instead of "eliminating waste"

So they basically capitulated to terrorists.

Let them "destroy" the government and deal with the consequences.
