What do you think the winning strategy for the democrats is going forward?
Americans have been indoctrinated to hate the democrats on the left and the right. Leftist being hypercritical of the democrats doesn’t do the brand any favors and drives up apathy IMO.
MAGA and Republicans are an unreachable voting bloc,
Earlier today someone made a good point that perhaps this discussion is not best suited for this specific thread, so I'll try and bend my answer to fit the spirit of the original purpose of this thread.
I think the the fukkery going on with the Trump Administration is a useful lesson in how valuable political framing can. I don't believe Americans have been indoctrinated to hate the Democrats. The Democrats are pretty consistently the more popular of the two parties. I think the issue is that the Democrats are ceding ground and missing the moment because they've lost their soul. They don't really stand for anything anymore except keeping the status quo going. They used to have Big Liberal Ideas like The Great Society and The New Deal, but now they're mainly just for technocratic fixes around the edges. MAGA is full of (bad!) big ideas like deporting all illegal immigrants and building a wall across the southern border and pulling out of NATO and destroying the federal bureaucracy. And they're actually pushing forward with these ideas. You can't defeat big bad ideas with small mediocre ideas. It's very concerning that Democratic leadership's response has been to approach this onslaught of right-wing destruction as a messaging issue instead of an ideological issue. The voters have given Democrats mandates to govern multiple times in this era but they haven't done much with it. In multiple areas they've made life worse for the average person. The idea isn't to convert Republicans or MAGA, it's to reach the 1/3 of people that didn't vote.
How does the democrats reach non voters even though they have popular policies that the electorate would vote for in theory but is turned off because the democratic brand is toxic via conservative propaganda?
Say you're going to do something big and then fight like hell to do it. Return to the average voter and worker as your primary stakeholder instead of the coastal globalized elite. Stop being funded by the most evil institutions in society and start rallying people against them. Don't use the courts or the parliamentarian or the minority party as an excuse.
The Democratic brand is toxic because Democrats have been do-nothings for a long time to the average voter. Every time a genuinely big idea bubbles up within a fringe of the Democratic Party (universal healthcare, free college, eliminate all student loan debt, free childcare, etc) Democrats find every reason to never actually enact it. Families had portraits of FDR in their living rooms for decades because he directly impacted their actual lives. He brought them out of poverty and into electricity. Democrats need to rediscover that energy.
Should they encourage celebrities to run that have brands popular outside of politics?
No, this is a distraction from the actual problem with the Democratic Party. They should focus more on the message than the messenger.
