I think we just argue for arguing sake sometimes.

There is certainly more than enough blame to go around and the Democrats haven't been perfect, they made some MASSIVE blunders, every government does this, however.

Pretending that the right policies can fix this situation is also naive as hell. There will ALWAYS be a massive group of people in America unhappy with life, even if they are living comfortably, because a black or Hispanic person moved next door to them. Pretending there isn't a massive and influential group of people who will never be happy unless they have a race or an immigrant underfoot is the height of stupidity.
I think if the takeaway is simply that we lost because there is a determinatively large group of people in America who are irredeemably racist then there's really no point to supporting any political efforts, and our time would best be spent focusing on sports and movies. It's a recipe for political defeatism. There's no prescription for hope or action down that road. I don't even see the Liberals promoting this idea proposing efforts to un-racist the population, they're just saying it to offload any responsibility for why their program lost. Funny enough, I saw this same defeatist mentality coming out of much of Bernie-world after he lost the primary. A lot of leftists said the Democratic Party is irredeemably committed to a failing neoliberal ideology and checked out of engaging with the party because they saw electoral politics as a dead end. It's the same easy button out of self-reflection on why you lost and what needs to be done to win.

I don't know, maybe the Libs are right that it's not their weak tea policies, it's that the country is simply too racist to elect a black Democrat President. Or maybe the Bernie-busters are right that the Democratic Party cannot be reformed out of its death spiral ideology to take the mantle of an actually virtuous political program. Both lead to the same outcome; uselessly gawking as the right takes power.

Ultimately if folks want to criticise the Dems, start a thread and engage in there. If you want the shyt on leftist who voted or advocated for Trump, start a thread or post in the Leopards ate my face thread.

But the argument about who is more to blame for this situation shouldn't be done in this thread.
Fair point. I'll bow out.

Has a mostly white population since the civil war ever tried to un-racist the population?
Even the Civil war wasn't necessarily about stopping racism.
Observe the reactions from the population however, when policies that are designed to level the playing field have been implemented.
I dont see acknowledging this point as defeatist. I don't think it stops the Dems from winning elections in future, but I think, being honest about how a large portion of white Americans feel is realistic.
This is the same undercurrent that gave Britain brexit.

It takes a Herculean effort to deliver something materially good for the American people and we need to ask ourselves why? I don’t think it’s as simple as democrats = losers or democrats bad.

Why is the system designed for it to be easier for Republicans to govern and destroy shyt?
You ever see the demolition of a building? Takes no time compared to building it.

Either way, you’re talking to people with a flawed premise. Whether they’re both sides, or we need a third party pastors, in order for their ideas to work it requires cooperation from republicans. Yet that’s the one group they refuse to hold accountable and critique efforts to work across the aisle. Mind you, the reason they say the policy positions they want matter is based largely on the fact that republican voters say they want these things.
