OPERATION 2: FREE FOR ALL
The new Operation begins tomorrow, December 11! A reminder, the game update will be available to download at 10:00 am PT but all of the new content – modes (FFA, Arcade Blitz & 2v2) and content (maps, characters & more) – won’t be active until approximately 1 pm PT.

TITLE UPDATE 3 PATCH NOTES
Along with the launch of Operation 2: Free For All, we’re rolling a variety of improvements and fixes in our biggest update yet.

  • Added weapon Bloodsprays to your victims’ death screens in versus
  • Movement adjustments to improve strafing including increased acceleration and a minor reduction in the delay from roadie run to shoot
  • Updated visuals on the spectator HUD used in private versus matches – now includes a mini-map with numbered player icons
  • Added “Reduced Buffering” option for PC players that can reduce input lag when frame-rate is consistently much higher than your monitor’s refresh rate
  • Fixed an issue that could cause only a single map to be featured in the front end
  • Fixed HUD locators being clamped to corners of the screen when they should have been positioned along the bottom
  • Users are no longer able to use a Breaker Mace to kill players in elevated low covers with the Heavy attack
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes players searched for cover on the other side of cover they are facing
  • Fixed an issue that could cause players roll directly into covers when performing an ADS “Back-A”
  • Fixed an issue that could cause players to hitch after performing a cover slip+roadie run at certain angles
  • Fixed an issue where aim adhesion tracked enemies through low cover
  • Melee’ing with a grenade no longer causes the character to ignore player collision on friendlies
  • Fixed an issue that could cause all fortifications and weapons to be displayed when Emile joins in progress
  • Fixed an issue where weapon skins occasionally didn’t display on certain maps in Versus and Horde
  • Fixed an issue in Escape where sometimes split-screen Co-Op players experienced disabled melee and shooting until weapon swap when conducting an active reload with the Overkill
  • Fixed an issue in Horde where players can restart after wiping in Survivor
  • Fixed an issue where store updating forces the player to reboot the title to see new items
  • Fixed an issue in Escape where the Shock Grenadier mutator also damages nearby Swarm
  • Fixed an issue in Escape when a player joining in progress into the safe room could cause the next chapter to load indefinitely
  • Fixed an issue where DBNO players get revived with less than full health
  • Fixed an issue so that there is now blood splatter on the camera during pistol executions
  • Fixed an issue in Escape where the Poison Juvies mutator could continue to cause damage after poison puddle disappears
  • Execution previews now play
  • Fixed the issue where sometimes banners didn’t appear on the MVP screen, if the MVP is on the losing team
  • Fixed an issue in Escape where some players’ Ultimates did not display as full on TAC-COM
  • Fixed an issue where some players using the combination of a Controller and a Mouse get incorrect adhesion/friction
  • Fixed the issue where Mouse and Keyboard in the Arcade Deathmatch weapon purchase menu the input to repeated continuously
  • Fixed an issue in Escape where the players “best time” sometimes displayed as “—” even though the user is placed on that Hive
  • Fixed an issue in PC where players attempting to install the Ultra-HD Texture pack sometimes got stuck at 70%
  • Fixed an issue in Horde where Jackbot is occasionally unable to interact with the button that turns the forge on
  • Fixed an issue in Horde where joining in progress occasionally enabled the user to see items that are not allowed to be purchased by that character
  • Fahz Horde buff: Exploit Weakness – removed the constraint that it has to happen during the ultimate. Previously you would get extra damage to weak spots during the ultimate only, now with this card equipped you get it all the time
  • Additional miscellaneous bug fixes

Got into a beautiful match and destroyed the other team in a 3v1, got the other team's lives from 3 down to 5 remaining lives and then my game crashes. I was doing so good :mjcry:

This game though plays so good but damn it keeps crashing on me. Like wtf.

Game is fukkin basura, popped it in and turned it off after 3 matches. These maps are trash even OVERPASS is better than these maps.

They built this game specifically for messico and they hate it.
Lol the last match I played it definitely was mostly mexicans in the game. Idk.

The maps are really the weakest. Most of them are below average. I'm shocked they STILL haven't added new maps since launch. Only District and Training grounds are "okay". The gameplay is still great imo though :yeshrug:

PAHANU
Pahanu is a brand new map set among the ruins of an old civilization and the twisted oversized trunks of the jungle.

This intense jungle landscape puts a unique twist on Gears combat, with its organic cover, strong flanks, intimidating rifle positions and position-obscuring fauna that’s unlike anything else in Gears 5 today.

Two intimidating hills mark the spawn area for each team, leading into the open swamps of the middle of the map. The altar in its center contains a key weapon pickup, but making it there is half the battle.

Flank through the cave side for ranged weapons and another key weapon pickup. Prepare for close-range battles thanks to the tight nature of the cave formation and surrounding cover.

On the opposite side, the larger Ruins area offers a mix of combat, with solid Lancer positions overlooking the cover-filled center. Watch for risky, but deadly flanks from the mid-cut.

CANALS
Does it get any more classic than snipe battles on Canals? This Gears 1 favorite is back in it’s new look introduced in Gears 4. Own the bridges, own the map.

2V2 MAP: ARENA
Allfathers Arena is getting the 2v2 treatment with this 3-in-1 map! Duke it out in the middle lane of the Arena with three different possible tile combinations. Be ready for anything.

2V2 MAP: ANNEX
Two routes, two places to send ‘em home. This tile based 2v2 map offers two locations to fight in. Which will you choose?


A NOTE ON MAPS FOR GEARS 5
We know traditional Versus / Horde Maps are incredibly important to you. We’ve recently been re-evaluating the game from the ground up to assess how we can deliver more of the content you want and prioritize accordingly.

As of Operation 3, we have significantly scaled back development of Tiles in order to put more resources into the development of maps for Versus / Horde. Unfortunately, the benefits of this change weren’t able to increase the number of maps in Operation 3, but rest assured, more maps are coming. Stay tuned for more news in the coming months.

The way maps rolled out for this game is incredibly slow.

If you like KoTH or Escalation yea, but the weapon tuning split is one of the most retarded ideas. I’m forced into Core because I like TDM? Fukk the coalition and fukk rod fergurson and this trash ass revival. :pacspit:

How the fukk is Cole Train just now playable???!!.:mindblown:

guys, i have legit been stuck on act 2-4 where youre waiting to get into the abandoned mine. its wave after wave of exploding juvies and other bullshyt and there are simply no checkpoints. i understand when youre playing on insane etc, but this is experienced, i simply cannot pass it, then when i got close, my computer ally gets killed smh.

I literally rage-quit out of that shyt 30 minutes ago after 12 tries:mjlol:the difficulty spike vs. everything else in the game that came before it :dahell:

If the exploding juvies don't get you the exploding bastions and scion ammo will. Del is completely fukking useless too :scust:

The only real solution is to spam Jack's surveying ability to get the 20% damage bonus and to ice freeze the scions (if you did all the side missions before the mine). Even then though there's a 70% chance Del isn't doing shyt to cover you while you're defending the other side of the map and you get snuck by an exploding juvie :dead:Some of the worst teammate AI I've seen in a game in over a decade, how tf does Jack have a higher kill ratio than a cog :mindblown:

I just beat this shyt... only for Del to bug out out and not walk into the fukking elevator. Had to reload the battle again :laff::laff::laff: I want to stab Del with an icepick no cap

How is there not a checkpoint at the end of the battle?! :fire:

EDIT: Finally moved past that bullshyt. Easily the worst stage in the game thus far
