When a Trayvon Martin type of story happens to a gay white kid then maybe they might have something. But we know that doesn't happen with them. Being a gay white male still guarantees that you'll get treated better than most non-white people.

Not all people that "look" black, personally identify as black -- they can still be discriminated against based on their looks.

Not all people that "look" queer, personally identify as LGBTQ -- they can still be discriminated against based on their looks.

Can you hide the fact that you're gay? Yes, haven't you heard of beards, marriage of convenience? Like I said before, people might assume someone is gay because of their demeanor and clothing, but it's all just speculation. So when they're discriminated based on looks, that's just an assumption on their part unless that person has explicitly stated that they're gay.

Mixed folk were still considered black in white communities because they could pass, and they were discriminated against when they were found to be black even though a majority of their heritage is white. What does that tell you?

Let's stop comparing apples and oranges. When gays go through segregation and apartheid at the level of black folk, then they can talk (I'm strictly speaking on non-black queers).

I'm black and gay.

It's not exactly the same but there's definitely some similarities. Gay dudes who chose to hold hands are getting their asses beat like its nothing. That sounds pretty familiar to what civil rights folks dealt with during sit ins, demonstrations, etc

If straight couples can hold hands, kiss, hold each other in public, gay dudes should be able to do the same. It shouldn't be something I should have to worry about.

All of it is just fear. Whites have a fear of blacks because they understand us. Homophobes have a fear of gays because they don't understand us.

Actually, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Affirmative Action had something to do with the job application process. Once upon a time, a brother made it to the interview or at least got the phone call but now they can screen easier thanks to the "voluntary" questionnaire. Who the freak else is not going to disclose their skin tone or heritage in America? No one so we are pigeon-holed into filling it out anyway. For a job I do not want, I am going to check white and see if I get a response quicker. lol. Anyway, a brother to get on the same level as an average cac, he have to be superman and that is a crying shame.
