I don't see Seasnake changing his stance, he's riding that Strong boy (word to Aemond) to the Iron Throne and cementing a brehlaryon in that spot in the history books. His granddaughters being betrothed to produce the future heirs for the Iron Throne and Driftwood throne is the cherry on top if anything.

Robert is trash but one thing I give him over Viserys is choosing people he trusted to run as Hand because his reign would have been fukked without Jon Arryn. And while Ned Stark had low tier political game, he's also a good choice because he had Robert's back and if Robert came back from the hunting trip uninjured it most likely would have been a wrap for the Lannisters.

Feels unlikely - the two people who would know if he switched up (Rhaenys and Vaemond) both operated as if he hadn't. Rhaenys made it clear he made no changes to his succession plan and Vaemond criticized him for still putting history before blood.

Embracing the Strong boys was already a major decision he had to make, so not only would he be giving up his chase for glory in the history passages, but now his granddaughter is in line to produce a true blooded Brehlaryon heir to the Iron Throne (and the other the Driftwood throne). I can't see him turning his back on all of that for a piece of revenge (the only things the Greens can provide him) that will be forgotten long after he's dead.

A few thoughts after reading the last couple pages:

There is no "naturally" when it comes to the line of succession. The lord of the house can name whoever they want as heir. People may commit treason to challenge them, but that doesn't make any one claim "right." House Mormont trains their women as warriors and allows them to become ruler's of their house. The Martells do the same in Dorne. Roose Bolton legitimized his b*stard and named Ramsay Snow a Bolton and heir to his lands and titles. I'm sure there has to be a story somewhere in the lore of Westeros where a lord named his ward or a friend as heir. Anyone can challenge these claims of course, but that would be treason, and you better have the backing of an army behind you because you're going to be sentenced to death. What Vaemond was trying to do was out right treason against his house and its lord, Corlys. Even if Corlys dies, he said Luke is the heir, so Luke is the heir. If Vaemond's petition was granted, there's a good chance Corlys takes his head when he wakes up. No one is allowed to tell the lord what to do with his house. Vaemond is a second son, he doesn't have claim to shyt

Also, there's no way Corlys does not side with his wife and Rhaenyra/Daemon if he survives. His brother committed treason, his wife bore witness and negotiated a marriage pact to help see his named heir through. No way in hell he wakes up and gets mad about his traitor brother being killed when he was plotting to overthrow his rule, his wife and his chosen heir. He would never side against his own wife who was trying to uphold his wishes. You guys are not thinking this through.

And how the fukk is there still people in this thread who don't understand that Rhae/Daemon/Laenor/Qarl all planned to fake Laenor's death together? They literally tell you what they are doing as they show you what is happening during that scene.

Vaemond knew that this was probably his last stand the moment he stepped in the throne room. He was either going home with the prize or throwing up his middle fingers

He has been holding this in for 16 years and waited until Corlys was out of the picture to legally challenge it. Remember he truly believes Corlys is either already dead or will be dead by the time his body is brought to shore. So hearing that ruling against him, in his mind, meant that within a day or two he would have to bend his knee and call little Luke Lord Velaryon. He wasn't having it.

Knights and warriors in these stories and settings grow up thinking they'll die in battle or doing something heroic so they don't think about death in the same way someone in a modern setting might. To him, going down in the history book calling these cacs b*stards and their mama a whore in front of the entire court will always be preferable to keeping your life but having your pride taken away.
