low key Otto didn't even do anything wrong
He was always trying to look out for the king and make sure he makes the right decisions
Can’t serve two masters. At BEST, he was trying to weave his own self interests with the interests of the King, at worst he was a conniving c*nt who had no interest in actually helping the King the second he had his shot. The point Viserys made was he’ll never know the truth now. Every suggestion he makes, he’ll have to wonder if there’s an ulterior motive involved and no longer has the plausible deniability of “eh, maybe he does, don’t they all to some extent?” Like he knows exactly the extent Otto can go.

when has the king ever turned up anyone

and when has the king ever came down on his brother as hard as he should've

otto knows the king well enough to tell his daughter exactly what to say and when to say it in order to leapfrog the power rankings. he gets vic, that's why it was a swerve

you can just disagree and stop acting like im one of these people who still thinks rhae is still 12 or something :mjlol: if otto had been sent for actual battle and NOT diffusing a volatile situation, then he straight up would've been given a real army - not some envoy that was likely to get smoked the second daemon's dragon showed up. and then talking shyt to provoke daemon too? there is no way that lines up with stopping a conflict or getting anything back
I thought we already established that Otto went cause he knew if the King went they would have squashed it. He knows the king has a soft spot for his brother, something we saw on full display the first half of this episode.

There are three things keeping this show from being great.

First is that story only revolves around and jumps back and forth between two characters, second is that the two main characters and pretty much everyone else, besides Otto, is either bland or not given enough time to get fleshed out and third is that they are unnecessarily fast forwarding through the story.

We're still early on in the show but @dora_da_destroyer and others already touched up on there not being any real evil characters in the show, which is not a problem, problem is that there aren't many characters in the gray area either. Otto was the only one that fit the bill and actually got airtime.

Corlys and his wife have inexplicably been removed from the storyline when they should be playing a big part. I don't even know the names of other King's council members, there's that one fella that pops up from time to time to give great advice that's always discarded. And the rest of the 'families' are just fodder for Rhea.

Viserys is one dimensional, a good guy but incompetent, while Rhea was not given any character development at all. I thought Rhea's conversation with Rhaenys about the role of a woman/princess would be the turning point for her but then she goes on to have the same conversation with multiple people while not having any growth at all.

First Rhaenys tells her, then Luke Wilson tells her she's lucky to be in her position, then her uncle tells her the same thing and then in the end Alicent tells her the same thing and Rhae seemingly ends up converting Alicent to her side :gucci:
Otto was the closest to evil we had imo. That scene with his daughter two episodes ago was cold as hell. Compared to Viserys scenes with Rhae who you can tell he loves his daughter. I don’t get that from Otto at all.
