as the king he thought he had more control over corlys/the situation than he did…in hindsight he may have been wrong…at the end of the day he’s still a man not god…ppl regardless of their status underestimate others all the time…he goofed :yeshrug:

…also keep in mind this is a drama…if characters always made the “right” decisions then a lot of these shows would be boring af lol
He does not need to be a god but he does need to stop being a p*ssy :pacspit:

Corly biggest problem with Viserys is his unwillingness to fight crabfeeder who being back my those city states that viserys want no problem with:whoa:that messing up Corly money. Visery marrying Corly daugher was like a peace offering for him not want to more or less go war with those city state.

True, but even then, he explained why it was such an issue for him when he met up with Daemon. Despite their standing as actually being the truest Valaryians, the ships and the money are all he has, and what really got him his seat on the council, and he wants more than that.

The money is less important to him than truly solidifying his house's standing and future. Viserys misgauged the situation, and assumed his problem was really just the money, and kept thinking that compensation for his losses was going to be enough.

Dumb? Nah. Naive and completely ignorant of other points of view? Yeah.

It seems like he really assumed Corlys was on the same page as him with thinking that marrying someone that young just wasn't feasible. He definitely didn't consider that the pairing meant more to him than just a routine joining of houses, though.

What's crazy is that a lot of Viserys' problems are ones that could easily have been solved by talking to people, instead of relying on Otto and that Maester to handle the heavy lifting. If he just talked to Corlys about his choice before announcing it, he'd probably be alright. Could've easily spun it off as respecting his house and wanting to link them in, but wanting to do right by his daughter by giving her an opportunity to wed someone closer to her age or something.

NOW YOURE BEING NAIVE...

AT THE END OF THE DAY
HE WANTED TO SHOW CORLYS
THAT HE IS STILL KING AND WONT
BE PRESSURED OR STRONG ARMED
INTO ANYTHING...

HE ANNOUNCED IT IN THAT FASHION
WITH PURPOSE.

I don't think he's done anything to this point to imply that he's even thinking on that level, though.

Roberts Rebellion was successful because of Rhaegar and Tywin more or less sitting out most of the war. Not because of dragons

Not much would change because Aerys is still crazy and Rhaegar your only competent dragon rider is still missing most of the battles because he's with Lyanna

You could be generous and say he'd have better travel time with a dragon to make it back before the trident battle but unless he stops Robert at Ashford he will still join his forces with Ned's and Jon arryn and proceed to be a big problem.
All the dragons were dead long before the rebellion happened.

He could easily just make her his mistress. It was normal during those times :yeshrug:

:mjtf:
And then he'd make an enemy out of The Hightowers, one of the most powerful families in Westeros, and the leaders of Oldtown and friends of the Citadel and Faith. You don't just take that girl and sully her with b*stards, without a huge amount of backlash.

If Laena is 1A in terms of attractive marriage prospects for a lord of Westeros, then Alicent is 1B. She's not just some random chick from a random house.

Not justifying it at all but...
That's just a convention of the time
You are considered a woman in that society once you have your period because life expectancy is so short in medieval times and there's a 1/10 chance of a woman dying during pregnancy actually the showrunner said its a coin flip so its even worse

One girl Laena(Corlys daughter) is 12 and the other girl Alicent(Otto Daughter) is 15
Viserys is going to marry Alicent because he loves her but also because Otto is doing the same thing selling his daughter to gain favor. She looks older so Viserys is more down for this match but at the end of the day dude is still a creep either way imo

If you want you can basically call Drogo, Tyrion, and Margaery etc anyone from the previous series really as pedos since they all married underage characters
Tyrion is like 30 and he married sansa at age 14

It's different when the 12 year old girl in question is black. Those of us who are black will internalize this pimpery and preemptively empathize. Preempathize?

Leeches as well have been used for a long time, and still are a medical procedure.

Leeches were also a common way for Red Women to extract a King's blood, right Gendry?

The whole scene with Viserys courting Laena was disturbing. At the same time, that little girl was trying to finesse the info of where that big ass dragon is located from him. Was Corlys using her to honeypot Viserys?

yea, OG GOT was CGI'ing in extra buildings in a real city shot, now it feels like they bushed being on location so they just CGI a whole city
they certainly aren't using real aerial shots the way they used to. damn near all the city shots have looks like a video game compared to s 1-5 of GOT

I'm pretty sure they using that "Mandalorian" "Volume" led wall technology, which also includes a videogame / VR engine built in. They also used this in "The Batman."

Then he could just wait and used the other chick as his mistress to pass the time :mjtf:.

The girl he is deciding to marry is 15, the brehs daughter 12, they consider coming of age 14.

It makes zero sense to make an enemy out a person who controls 80% of your naval fleet :mjtf:
I’ve seen other people say this too. Yeah having a mistress was normal but not the daughter of a high lord. Especially not the daughter of the Hand. All of Robert’s side pieces were either low born or flat out whores.
