I thought Al's connect would at least throw him the keys out the window after driving by :bryan:

Child locks :gucci: Paper Boi has the best expressions, when he was doing the radio reads and the guy kept trying him to do it different :martin:.

Earn falling for the gift-card hustle :francis:, I like how they brought back Darius paying him for the dogs though.

Tracy watching Bojack Horseman :leon:

"They call me 35 Savage, because I'm 35" :troll:

They'll be calling him 36 savage soon though:skip:

You're judging a character based off what the show is deliberately not showing you. The very beginning of this episode has dude congratulating Paper Boi on a new song. We didn't see it being made and we haven't even heard it. There hasn't been a second of Paper Boi creating music on this show yet he always has material out, and he's even more popular this season than he was last. He's recognized by someone everywhere now. A rapper who is big enough to have a Yoohoo commercial knows who he is and knows his music.

This show isn't about Paper Boi's creative process. If he was walking around with a pencil and a notebook all the time it'd just look like Hustle & Flow the Series. We know Paper Boi's career is progressing because it makes living his normal life more and more difficult and he is more and more uncomfortable with it.

He wants to be a rapper to make money, but rap isn't making any money (yet), and all these steps from moderate notoriety to a hopefully profitable career have been soulless.

We all judging though.....

And what new material? Didn’t at that place he was about to perform “Paper Boi” again in front of them white folks?

I’m not saying half the show should be about his rap grind but they literally show nothing.

And again it’s kinda on him the reason rap ain’t making moving..... cuz he seems to hate some of the moves it takes to get it poppin.

Also they could easily make reference that he’s either going or leaving the studio without showing shyt.

I think was all like these characters and we all wanna see them win but Gotdamn breh.... put a little effort in

The dude that robs him is talking about his new song.

On purpose. The same reason they don't release any of the music on this show from any of the artist. The same reason they don't explain the fictional artists they make up like Senator K and Clark County. The music in this show is treated in almost the same way a painter uses negative space on a canvas. It shapes the picture, you know it's form, but you only see what it leaves behind, the rest is left to your imagination. This show isn't about the music, it's about the people, but through the elements the show presents you you can guess it's shape.

Also they could easily make reference that he’s either going or leaving the studio without showing shyt.
Why? They barely have enough time (and are running much longer episodes as is this season) to tell their story anyway and you want them to waste a scene just to hold your hand through some simple storytelling?

When/If they show Paper Boi working on music, best believe it'll be part of an important narrative in that episode. Not just for the sake of showing it.

Fair enough, I know it’s not about the music and I ain’t even saying it should be. I don’t want another Empire.

I guess I’m looking at it from the perspectives of rappers where they really hungry and yea they do other shyt throughout the day in they lives but the music is always they number 1 priority, passion, and love.

No other musical movie/show explain fictional artists, they just there too. I hear you but you lost me with that point cuz what does that have to do with anything?

It won’t take up extra time to add a line or 2 or imply something and I disagree that’s handholding to imply.... but I hear you.

I don’t think showing an aspiring rapper working would be showing it for the sake of showing it but I hear you. Differences of opinion.

I get all of that.... I really do. But still don’t think it would hurt to imply on some eps. Not every scene or every ep, but just a few here and there.

Right. Everything on this show has had a purpose in some shape or form. Things don't happen just to happen ex: the puppies. Willing to bet that gun his uncle told him to take plays a crucial role at some point during the season.

The "no chase" rule is a pretty standard retail practice.

Also I get the “live my life shyt” with PB but the question has to be raised... “Does this dude at this point even still want to be a rapper?”

Cuz it just seems like he always complains or hates doing the shyt that pretty much all rappers need to do to get poppin. Also dude is never in the studio, he not even writing in his downtime or doing anything else that would elevate him in his he game.

He just wants to get paid. That’s all he cares about.
