Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
I like Conway's album and some Griselda shyt but this basically gets to a point I've been making for awhile. A handful of old heads gassed these guys up by LYING that they sound like 90s rap when in reality it doesn't. What noteworthy rapper in the 90s was predominantly rapping over drumless loops or super low tempo/slow drums and low bpm samples? Keep it a buck: nobody is fukking with that shyt outside of a handful of people. Conway's album sold less than 8k first week.

Let's get in a time machine and go back to 97. What was on DJ Clue tapes? A mixture of street shyt, boom bap r&b, and what we might consider pop rap. You'd hear TONY, Hypnotize, and the unreleased All About The Benjamins within a 20 minute span. You know what you weren't hearing? Joyless slow ass drums. For as depressed as DMX was, the shyt the radio played was up tempo as fukk lol. Now let's head to the Tunnel. You know what you're hearing? Phone Tap. Incarcerated Scarfaces. Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See. Mo Money Mo Problems. Big Momma Thang. Again you aren't hearing low bpm shyt there either.

These guys gotta reckon with the fact that they're 40 plus dressing like teenagers because they never had money until a couple years ago, and they make music you can't even play in a car by yourself because it doesn't bang. Not the drums, not the bass, nothing.

feel like they been complaining for years that it isn't 1994 anymore and they aren't being received like Nas, Mobb Deep and Wu Tang. Meaning black women were rocking with them no matter how gutter or lyrical they were spitting. As someone said before they aren't satisfied with their fanbase. Getting money, cool Getting some shine from the legends of 2 decades ago, cool. Dressing with bust down jewels and custom leathers etc in a crowd of dudes who look like they go to school in Vermont :mjlol: it just doesn't hit the same. OBVIOUSLY, as we see.......

Should just be happy to be where they at and keep it moving. It's Lil Baby, Da Baby, Future, Gucci, NBA Youngboy now, can get some cars and try to dress it up however but the audience is limited. Just have to be happy, there's a lot to be happy about.

Lol

Conway album had cuts for sure. The Jill Scott song should be getting play. That's a weak sus excuse for a DJ.

Nobody tells Eminem he needs radio songs. He got on with whatever he wanted to make a single.
C'mon breh, some of your Em critique has merit, but this is utterly ridiculous and false :mjlol::francis:

Even when Benny gets on a non-Griselda track he's still talking the same plug talk shyt. I just don't understand it. Hov would hit you with hustler bars all the time but he was never focused entirely on talking about bricks, road trips, etc. There's nothing slick about these guys. It's just straight up.

Not a bad verse obviously but it's supposed to a banger and he's rapping the same shyt, and they had to slow down the beat for his flow.
