I’ve heard his stuff with Jeezy too, even that record he had with Eminem on the hook that leaked. He’s good but lacking something to really get the recognition.
Lol they're both relatively on the same levels of recognition. just because a hov cosign means more to you doesnt mean he isnt a critically acclaimed rapper...with multiple records deemed classics
you posting ransom records and talking about recognition man :mjlol:
again back to your bias. ransom is legitimately an older version of benny with more introspective bars.
benny's music is just easier to digest and more palatable to the average *real hip hop fan*
again, agree to disagree.

rocnation connections made that happen.
Freddie gibbs is on multiple tv shows ...what the hell does that mean. :mjlol: if fame was an indicator of better bars will smith would be the greatest rapper of all time.
more eyeballs saw gibbs npr performance than that jimmy fallon posse cut performed...what does this even matter.
last reply. agree to disagree lol

you're extremely biased to one type of sound. heavy soul samples, simple flows with slick talk and wittiness in a pretty unoriginal way. it feels like benny the butcher is trying to turn reasonable doubt as an album and recreate it for his entire career....(then again the nikka first song that really took off was '97 hov :mjlol:) i mean the nikka music group is called black soprano family. he just does this mafioso thing...and he does it really fukking well.

gibbs can and has rapped proficiently in all manners of production styles with different flows melodies for well over a decade. a lot of you are caught up on his work with just the legendary producers. mans was on HEAVY 808 trap type shyt to extremely abstract madlib....to more traditional soul sample use...to god damn g funk from cardo and worlds freshest...and makes it work seamlessly. Working with artists from virtually every region and not being out of place on a record. The nikka be singing hooks man. they arent in the same realm in terms of versatility.
you like that cold winter moving packs out the trunk in virginia music.........gibbs can do that and a lot more. gonna sound like i'm hyping gibbs a lot but the nikka is nice :yeshrug:

Agreed, Benny is derivative of the Cassidy/Beanie Sigel/etc. school of rapping and doesn't push the boundaries of it outside of rapping over updated production. Once you've heard a Benny album you've pretty much heard them all.

Freddie Gibbs is derivative of BTNH/Snypaz/etc. but has more versatility with songwriting and production than the average doubletime flow rapper.

If it was Conway vs. Gibbs this would be a very different conversation, Conway has stronger songwriting and lyrical chops than Benny does and would outrap Gibbs bar for bar (albeit maybe not flow-wise).

I like Benny's features, as a solo artist though he's a one-trick pony too much of the time.

Benny’s been where Gibbs is he’s trying to expand more which is what other artists should do right? He’s got a deal at Def Jam right now, so he’s trying to get that bigger recognition.

Thuggin>>>>> anything Ive ever heard from the whole Griselda camp :yeshrug:

you cant listen to that and be like gibbs aint got bars. Full of quotables, 3rd verse is immaculate

You see it, cats like @Chip Skylark is comatose in fantasy land:mjlol: breh literally tried to dismiss what may have been the coldest bar that year. The track in general is an example of the perfect marriage between beats and rhymes, which is one of the main differences between gibbs and those Griselda cats. Thats a gear he can get to easily.

*edit* its disappointing that we have emcees in this thread only measuring the lyrical bar with a punch line meter :francis:. There is more to rap and bars than that one item.

Yeah the more they quote, the more I'm baffled. Again, Gibbs can rap. I'm not saying he's talentless, but what they're hearing and what I'm hearing....I don't get it. He's good but him being better than Benny and WAY better at that, I just don't hear it. His bars are not special to me. They're solid. Not wack, but not "dope" either. Content isn't particularly deep or thought provoking either or bar heavy.

Do You think Benny can 'rap' better than gibbs

Bro please don’t quote me talking about quotables you and I have done this before and you’ve dodged everything I’ve asked and said before

I’m just over going back and forth and it’s tiring. You know good and well my barometer is more than a punch line meter.

it just gets old and people start insulting each other over individuals who get rich from us paying to listen to them lol

just like you like. Regardless of how anyone feels at this point

If you're referencing the part where I just said that Conway can outrap Gibbs then we're gonna have to agree to disagree.

Conway will get Gibbs out of here for Benny. I like Gibbs but lets not be memorized by his flow.

I wish I could push a button to just have both parties make a diss, we need P-Cutta vol 30 for 2022

I'm a big fan of both but what's deep or thought provoking lyrics to you?

On a Gibbs project you're guaranteed to hear views on religion, racism, family issues etc. He's more layered than Benny imo.

Conway vs Gibbs would be a better comparison and better battle
