To be honest, this appears they have given up on that concern.

Yeah there will be more attacks but that is also what the French government is also wishing for, at least privately. I'd be surprised if Macron wins a second term and Le Pen doesn't win and really comes in and ramps it up.

For Muslims of France, this is their first soft step to tell you they plan on pushing you out. It will only get worse from here.
Yeah. They’re clearly out of fukks to give.

One of my colleague’s friends I messed around with was this beautiful Turkish Muslim back in 2016. I mean gorgeous. She lived in France and hated it. Told me how racist it is and how they tell you upfront they don’t like immigrants.

Bare in mind, this woman didn’t look that “ethnic”. Think of a young Nelly Furtado. And she was talking about the racism she experienced for being foreign and Muslim. And she dressed like a westerner. So I can only imagine how bad it is for Africans there.

France is a beautiful country, I’ve been there many times but the CACs there are fukking trash. I’d say the worst compared to American/British CACs.

this was a thing moreso with elite cosmopolitan women - aka, the women most likely to go get pictures taken of them. not all the women in the country were dressing like that

heres an iranian movie from 1969 set in a rural village. go to 35 minutes in, all the women are wearing chadoors

another iranian movie from 1974 about a rural dude and his wife - go to 12:00, shes wearing a chadoor

the historical truth is more complicated than either "women wore veils before colonialism" or "women only started wearing veils after the islamic revolution". whether women wore veils or not in muslim countries was varied and depended on the country, what social and economic classes they were in and a lot of other factors

Yeah in rural areas, that’s where a lot of the extremists came from, a majority of women did not wear them. That cannot be denied.

Means nothing. This is a Senate vote to amend a law proposal to be voted by the parliament. The Senate does not make laws and is mostly rightwing so it's logical they propose rightwing amendments. Nothing to see here really.

Do you have anything to back up that claim besides google image photos that show urban elite women?
Try to look up the history of veiled coverings in the Muslim world. Notice how they were made into law by conservative regimes.

This is a good starter

It stems from conservatism and religious extremism in regards to laws. I’m gonna try to find some social theorists related to this to link you with

very informative :ehh: the Totalitarians who pushed for the coverings remind me of the sons of Jacob, from the handmaid tales:merchant:
