Seems that france just be asking for trouble...
Nah...I agree with the ban. You can’t emigrate to a foreign country and expect that country to adapt/adhere to your ethos, culture and religion. You should adhere to theirs. Makes assimilation easier :yeshrug:. If you don’t wanna do that, stay in your country

this was a thing moreso with elite cosmopolitan women - aka, the women most likely to go get pictures taken of them. not all the women in the country were dressing like that

heres an iranian movie from 1969 set in a rural village. go to 35 minutes in, all the women are wearing chadoors

another iranian movie from 1974 about a rural dude and his wife - go to 12:00, shes wearing a chadoor

the historical truth is more complicated than either "women wore veils before colonialism" or "women only started wearing veils after the islamic revolution". whether women wore veils or not in muslim countries was varied and depended on the country, what social and economic classes they were in and a lot of other factors

It's so weird that a group of people (us) hyper-aware of the propaganda and bullshyt fed to the public at large by the media about themselves are so adamant about reinforcing that same propaganda and pushing bullshyt narratives when it comes to others.

In the mid-1900s, the majority of commoners in conservative Islamic countries despised the tiny group of the cosmopolitan elite, because - like all Western-loving groups - the elite were a bunch of resource hoarding degenerates who were glad to let the West infiltrate and destroy their culture and tradition in favor of pretty trinkets and the latest technological toys. Does that sound familiar to anyone? It should if you're African. The cognitive dissonance of a bunch of folks who bytch all day on Internet forums about the current state of Western society's worship of material things and rampant whoredom that fukks up the balance of society calling others 'backwards,' 'intolerant' and whatever for not following those same footsteps. :stopitslime:

A rural Afghan villager might not have a 65" Roku TV and the brainwashing that comes with it, but at least they have a connection to their centuries old heritage.

France didn’t become a dominant world power by being stupid or submissive. All due respect but you have to run your country in the way you think is best. Like other posters said, no one forced them to be there and I’ll add unlike America no one promised them religious liberties.

Which is why I say good for France.
Wish African countries would grow some balls and kick out the French in the West and Central, Jews and Indians in the East and British in the South at gunpoint.

Black folks are the only group of people in the world on this kumbaya, everyone has to be "tolerant" and "get along" bullshyt. fukk that - we can be cordial from across each of our borders.

It's also goofy that African and black American culture is often judged as "degenerate," "evil" and whatnot by non-Africans, but we turn around and do the same to others. :skip:
Who the fukk is a person looking from an outside culture to tell another culture what they need to or had better do in their own country. :childplease:

Then France should stop claiming to be a liberal country whilst putting in fascist legislations to infringe upon people’s human rights. And I hate religion and think it’s stupid but if that’s part of someone’s culture, why stop them from practicing it if they’re a citizen?

Are they gonna ban Jews from wearing their little hats? Exactly. I don’t see other countries telling Jews their kosher methods are barbaric and antiquated, but they go on about halal being cruel to animals when their methods are similar.

If another Charlie Hebdo incident happens I’ll just shrug my shoulders. France wants to keep on poking the bear and then they get shocked when it retaliates.

France does a good job of manipulating public opinion. They plunder African Countries and egg on Muslims. People think the French are cool but there very racist and intolerant.
Clearly a racist law by the 'open/liberal' society that France pretends to be.
Like someone said, they have good PR. Yet, France is arguably one of the worst when it comes to their post-colonial actions and how they treat non-white countries around the world. shyt a large number of conflicts are because of them. We went into Vietnam initially as a favor to the French who were trying to maintain their colonial hold on the country. We killed Qadaffi mostly on their behalf because he threatens their hegemony. They had the balls to economically enslave Haiti because they dared to fight back against their enslavement. They are still involved in various African countries politically and militarily like they are still their colonial subjects to this day.

The French are POS's

Like breh said, then don't market yourself or have laws that purport that you're a liberal society where freedom of religion is allowed. For all the bullshyt the US is on, despite the terrorist attacks we've dealt with, we have still maintained adherence to the constitutional right of freedom of religion.

look up

laïcité or secularism in France
...which puts the state far above the religion in most matters.

That means the state is going to get the preferred treatment over a religious body for most decisions.

That’s far different from America where religious freedom is more lenient. You can damn near set up cults and have crazy new religions that are taken seriously.

Don't be a bigot. Defend the rights of those that are being deprived of their religious rights even when you don't believe in any religion...that's what principled men do.

You would expect others to defend you when the state comes at you.

I know all about it, I live in France. Despite what islamophobes want people to believe, La Laïcité guarantees the right to everyone to practice their religion. It's actually theoritically the State's job to make sure that everyone can practice their religion. And also why, again despite what people think it means, the state can finance religious buildings. Including mosques. Laïcité means that the state is neutral before religions, meaning all should be treated equally, and that religion should not interfere in any way in state affairs, meaning also that someone's religion (in this case, Islam) should be of no consequence as to how they are treated by the state. So basically French politicians who talk use la laïcité as a tool against Muslim don't respect it themselves. Which shouldn't surprise anyone, it's just another example of how they instrumentalize so-called "Republican values" for their own benefit. To the point that they actually...disbanded the Observatoire de la Laïcité, basically because it wasn't aligned with the government's anti-Islam stance.

The bolded is irrelevant because, again despite what islamophobes want people to believe, there is no islamic religious body that would even be in the position to challenge the state's authority. It's all part of the big boogeyman discourse in France about the so-called "Political Islam" that supposedly is threatening the country.
