"The most recent edition of the UFC on FOX drew a 1.8 rating, the seventh straight UFC telecast on the network to earn less than a 2.0 (dating back to July 2013). It has been more than two years since the UFC on FOX last cracked a 2.5 rating, and more than three since it earned a 3.0 — when the debut telecast drew a 3.1 in November 2011."

This doesn't change the fact that what you posted earlier was false.

The last UFC on FOX peaked at 3.65 million viewers and averaged 3.05 million. The 1.8 rating is for the 18-49 key demographic. I think you might be confusing that rating with the number of viewers. That event generated a $3.1 million gate and attendance of 30k in Stockholm (the main event started at around 3:30 AM in Swedish time)

I never said boxing is dead. I don't agree with that statement all. Boxing is huge in many parts of the world and has a strong following in the US.

Doin HBO/Sho #s yet my sport is "dead" :dead:

Not true. As of Feb, 2014 UFC on FOX averages 3.6 million viewers. While [as of August, 2014] boxing averages 957k viewers on HBO & 587k viewers on Showtime.

I know that the UFC is on network television with FOX, while HBO/Showtime are premium channels. So it's not fair at all to compare the two. I only posted those numbers because you said the UFC on FOX does HBO/Showtime numbers, which is not true.

Look brehs im gonna keep it a buck, I train mma and yeah I got pipe dreams of making it to the UFC and have met plenty of pro fighters but in no way shape or form is MMA fukking with boxing right now in terms of paydays or PPV. It came out recenly that Floyd and Manny are going to make more for this one fight , then every fighter in the UFC has made combined since 2005...thats 500 something fighters, all put together and they aint adding up to one floyd mayweather v manny paquio fight purse...shyt is nuts lol

Edit : Pardon me this one purse is more then every fighter in the UFC made from 2005-2011.

Actually I do know about this ya bytch...What boxer today is receiving the pub that guys Like Tyson, sugar Ray, Foreman etc used to get? there is no reason why guys like Wilder, Broner, Thurman, Brook etc aren't doing commercials etc..

?
Breh...maybe because they're young upcoming boxers, I mean damn lets wait abit before we start with their popularity.... Manny Pac and Mayweather werent big time overnight...And didnt get in the spotlight or in "Commercials"quickly.... Broner and Wilder are doing well for where theyre at right now they can only go up.... Brook and Thurman still need those defining wins... As for the Popularity of the past, sheiiit I dont think boxing can ever get to that level again...HELL I dont see any combat sport getting to those Ali/Foreman, Leonard/Duran/Hearns/Hagler levels again... But both sports are doing pretty well...Boxing is not dying:usure:

That's where all the hate is coming from. The money. If UFC were pulling in loot like that then nothing would be said.

I really enjoy a good boxing match but MMA is the future. It's more dynamic and more close to actual fighting where you have to look out for not just punches but kicks and takedowns.

What boxing has going for it though is that it's more international so there's more people cheering on thier countrymen and more $$$. :takedat:

If Premiere Boxing Champions (PBC) works out then maybe it will reinvigorate the sport but long term MMA is where it's at. UFC is also doing a smart job with uniforms and better steroids testing. I think a lot of dudes in boxing are on steroids but the testing isn't good.

He's right tho, after that fight (or fight series) it can only go downhill from there

:manny:

But it's possible that bringing boxing back to network TV in March might help boost it's popularity

But right now 9 outta 10 people care more about MMA than boxing these days, This isn't the 1960s-90s anymore

Kids don't even know who the boxing heavyweight champion of the world is these days (once the most important title in sports)

:manny:
you must have surveyed tweens cuz in general I would say ppl are just not checking for combat sports and are more concerned with housewives of Atlanta or some shyt. But there isn't any general tally or statistic that will show that peeps are leaning towards mma over boxing in anything but fitness training in gyms

heard this for years it hasn't happened the best time it could have happened has since passed. Today mma is largely dominated by 1 entity and that's the ufc who are starving for draws. Dana was so adamant against females until they knew they needed fighters to fill their million cards now they are one of the biggest attractions. With that kind of forsight it's a little discouraging

CBS/showtime have also got out of the game, that was a huge zuffa free avenue for dudes to shine and raise their profile/value. We aren't likely to see a kimbo or any other personality that doesn't fit into zuffa's immediate plans again. Mma will exist in its own space like tennis or hockey but it will never see boxing. Dudes are so thirsty for the sweet science that they are clamoring to watch these two 4'11 mosquito weights duke it out. Boxing was suppose to die after Tyson, then dela hoya, now it's paq/mayweather? Nah some other name will be it's saviour
