I'm curious, what could they possible develop that could even be a fraction as profitable as Disney for the state? Disney goes away, a lot of those communities will slowly slip into mad max status when the poverty kicks in. In order to attract tourist, they'd have to - and almost certainly would - push those same people out but where would they go, south or north FL? There aren't enough orange orchards and new retirement communities on the planet to justify letting Disney leave FL.
Why would you think the end goal is profits for the state? :mjlol: :mjlol: :mjlol: These are FL republicans! Its about making $ for themselves and their allies/cronies.

Peep game.
Back during the Obama admin, Rick Scott denied federal funds as Governor for high speed rail. On account that, "It was operate at a loss for the state/government" 10+ years later, Rick Scott an investor for Brightline High Speed Rail in FL (private transportation company.

You guys keep thinking that the state operates on a level thats good for the state :mjlol::mjlol:theyre solely enriching themselves and donors at the expense of florida residents, most of whom will probably die or move again within the next 5-10 years, florida a huge transient state with an even smaller native population than ever before. Hence, why most of the population doesnt engage much in local/civic matters.

:childplease:What are you talking about? You really think this is just political and for show? A Federal lawsuit was filed, he undid the Reedy Creek agreement lmaooo. That was a non-starter for ANY potential FL governor and he just told disney to :camby::camby:.

Smh.

A lot of y'all don't know how this world really works. You're emotionally invested (understandably) meanwhile DeSantis, Iger and all these other guys realize this is Kabuki theater. They know it but need for you guys to continue believing in the storyline. But the second there is an opportunity they will both cut a deal and move on, meanwhile you're left with the emotional baggage of being angry bc the side you perceive as the enemy wasn't utterly destroyed.

If you're confused go to the thread about the Fox News/Dominion lawsuit. People swore up and down Dominion was about to strike a blow for democracy and take Fox down for good.

The Disney Corporation is not filing a lawsuit in federal court just to be having fun and games taking place and play patty cake with DeSantis.

They've held special sessions filed paper brought their attorneys and had multiple sessions in their Congress to strip them of their authority and somehow this is for entertainment? Are you for real?

You think Bob iger who runs the largest entertainment company on the planet wants to have his time taken up with this?

What emotion do I have to invest? :childplease: :childplease: Bruh, this disney doesnt anger me :mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:I dont live in central FL and im already moving out of FL. The abortion bill, right to carry bill, and the banning of black history get me more EMOTIONALLY INVESTED than this disney bullshyt. Im simply speaking facts as someone WHO LIVES HERE IN FLORIDA CURRENTLY, and a native floridian.

Yeah all of that's cool and all champ but there is a difference between greed and stupidity.

You don't run your biggest employer away who in turn is generating millions of dollars for local cities and businesses without having an alternative to sell to all those soon to be unemployed floridians if you still expect to be in power. Whether that alternative is on the up-and-up is irrelevant to the question I asked.

So I'll rephrase the question - if all those disney checks evaporate, what is the FL GOP going to do to keep it from sinking the FL economy?

Lol you think The Orlando area electorate is enough to change the Fl Governor seat from Red to Blue? :mjlol: :mjlol: :mjlol: Orlando is already as Blue as can be, this play is marketed to his base as "own the libs/disney" and his base is eating it up.

Marijuana legalization will more than likely be on the ballot come 2024, theres some tax revenue there. Otherwise, they would probably increase sales tax percentage. FL General Sales Tax is already 6% but Miami, Broward, Palm Beach already imposed a 7% sales tax with no virtual pushback.
Floridians are dumb, theyll pay an extra percentage in sales tax with no questions asked.

Also, Universal/Seaworld/Upcoming Nintendo World are foaming at this opportunity to the be the only shows in town.
