Fair enough, I don't have any hard data displaying what percentage maga represents the Republican voting share. I do know that Trump has been leading the polls for 3 months now over desantis and the gap has only been widening. I guess we'll have to wait and see how their court cases go.

His major issues are:

1. He is hemorrhaging much needed support within his own party and it's donors. This fact is not being overblown by the media, its true and we see evidence of it.

2. This Disney lawsuit is bad for his brand no matter how it shakes out and he's doubling down on his position. As a presidential candidate, the theme/goal of your presidency has to be the message that's front and center during your campaign. Not the lawsuit with a family based company, that employs most of the people in your home state, issues with your draconian ideals that aren't even slightly popular on a national level.

Do you realize that by echoing trump's argument/criticism (which people rightfully mocked bc it was so desperate) about how Florida is so easy to govern etc you're essentially conceding to DeSantis fundament claims about his popularity/success as governor?

He has already won regarding Disney. The media is focusing on him. Trump is focused on him. The other candidates are focused on him. One of the largest, most recognized companies/brands are focused on him. This Disney shyt is giving him untold millions in free advertisement. The people who hate him for it were never going to vote for him.

Disney/DeSantis don't hate each other in the same way you hate DeSantis. At some point they'lll make peace and Disney execs will go back to supporting guys like DeSantis. This was similar to the Dominion/Fox News thread when posters thought dominion was in it for the long haul, trying to strike a blow for Democracy against Murdoch then were disappointed when they quickly settled for $780M.

You care too much about the day to day fight. That's the distraction. Disney isn't fighting an ideological battle this is just about money and power. The donor shyt is about ego. Every donor wants their ass kissed. All of these issues will be hashed out, as they always are, behind closed doors. They will then move on.

Money won't be an object. There are two billionaires just in the Chicago area (Ken Griffin and Richard Euhlein) that would probably be willing to finance the entire race if necessary.

All that being said, I hope we are smart enough to continue to egg on this trump vs DeSantis battle. One piece of good news is that trump seems fully committed to fukking over the GOP if they don't nominate him.
