There is one life, one love so there can only be one MAGA king.

Nothing sticks to Trump because he is an amoral liar and a well known American celebrity since the 80s. He’s a one of one and if Meatball thinks he can ape Trump, he is in for a rude awakening when he leaves his little safe space in Florida and faces national media scrutiny.

Plus I don’t see Trump ever handing over his MAGA supporters if he loses. Finally, I don’t see a guy who sounds sassier than Lindsey Graham ::wrist:becoming POTUS.

At this point, he's got as much of a shot as any of the other Republicans. Trying to understand Americans' voting tastes/preferences is a crap shoot at best.

DeSantis is absolutely going to run.

The big thing in DeSantis favor that people aren't talking about is that Rupert Murdoch (and therefore Fox News) doesn't want Trump as the candidate again in 2024 (this isn't a secret), they just aren't confident he can win elections after 2020 and 2022. So DeSantis is going to have FOX News automatically on his side as soon as he announces. That is a big thing in his favor and against Trump considering the influence FOX News has on Republican primary voters.

Fox didn’t want him to win in 2016 either and we saw how that turned out. We’ve also seen how sensitive they are to audience capture with the Dominion stuff.

It doesn't matter if Fox turns into the Meatball network and never mentions trump again.
a lot of people in the media and us in the peanut gallery don't get or don't want to understand this simple fact:
Trump is not a politician. He's not running on issues, or an agenda.
He's a religious figure. It's a cult. Meatball and all the other 1-2 % repug candidates are running against a messiah figure.
Good luck trying to take out someone who's literally worshipped in the same vein as white Jesus among the repug base.

One major difference is the lack of a viable alternative. Ted Cruz was trumps biggest competitor and no one likes him, not even his own family lmao.

The thing that is hard to figure out is what percentage of the primary voters are full on, like you said, almost religiously motivated by trump vs they just really like/love him, desperately want him to be the nominee but if not they’ll be “convinced” to vote for the nominee. I wonder to what extent the medias portrayal of the first group makes it seem like the first group is larger than the reality.
