Most of this will be very popular even with Dems. The only one that will get serious pushback is the death penalty provision.
Which parts. None of that seems to be what dems want.

It's already a felony to sell fent. Felony 1 fir trafficking with up to 30 years. I guess we can give him credit for doing something about 5 years later. Same with reporting crimes to the national databases.

Obviously not increasing the use of the death penalty. Especially doing away with unamity and then adding cases which aren't murders.

Strikes forces, but not actually tightening restrictions on firearms purchases isn't it.

Further restricting pre-trial release ain't it.

adding cash bonuses to attract cops and not teachers ain't it. 5k for cops, 1k for teachers who aren't woke. 😂

All this tough on crime stuff is just redmeat for his base and he espect dems to fight it and use that to further is us vs them narrative.

It'll work for him and it's certainly going to pass in the shythole known as Florida and probably won't have any positive affect on crime.

You're overthinking it breh. Most voters just look at the headline. If you ask 1000 Dems most would be like "yeah that makes sense."

I'm in Chicago where GOP doesn't even bother running candidates and crime is the most relevant issue to voters. It's like that in most big cities nowadays.

He’s going right at trump now. Shot across the bow.

He’s trying to gauge the level of support he has within the party leadership. Even if trumps girl wins, if the count is close everyone will chalk it up as some kind of victory.

As they should. He has them looking like folks right now. Couldn't even get them to coup properly nor could he get them to elect a speaker without a clown show.

Party is nuts. Probably gonna stay nuts though.

Downplay DeSantis like yall downplayed Trump, if you want to

Matter of fact, ain't Trump a New Yorker? Why is he living in his assumed opponent's governed state?

Imagine running against a dude while you're living under his rule and on his home turf....can he even go back to NY?:skip:

You make valid points and I agree on the premise, but I see the key difference between trump and desantis as a personality and likable issue
They're both petty a$$holes, but your average trailer park dweller WANTS to be trump: rich, DGAF, gets bytches, says and does whatever he wants with no consequences. They'd love to hang out and kick it with him.
No one wants to be DeSantis. No one wants to hang out and have a beer with him.
Yes, he's racking up wins against the "woke" and delivering to the base, but that's in a red state with the built-in advantage of Cubans and other Latinos hyper-sensitive to "socialism" (they're our version of small hatters who scream "anti-semitism!" anytime someone says "jews").
For real, all you have to do to win in FL is call your opponent a socialist. It's that simple.

So will the DeSantis brand pick up suburbanites and middle of the road moderate indie voters in PA, OH, MI, WI, and VA? I think not.
That's not even counting whatever trump has in store for him. Word around the swamp is some blackmail shyt.

Trump was a uniquely positioned candidate. His greatest strength was that he was a Celebrity “billionaire” for nearly 30 years in a country that worships celebs and rich people. I firmly believe his celebrity is what allowed him to get away with all his bullshyt. Celebs are our country’s nobility. We worship them and think if them as our superiors. A politician will never have that kind of pull.

With that said, If he is the nominee, I hope DeSantis wannabe Trump antics motivate the Left the same way Trump did in 2020. Dems have the numerical advantage. Republicans have only won the popular vote once in the last 30 years. In 2020, they lost the popular vote by 8 million.

Hopefully a DeSantis loss would push Republicans to become less extremists….but it won’t.
