Half the ones I've seen have been fat as hell
No weight limit, you can get as big & sloppy as you want once you pass the academy.
And absolutely. I know a handful of guys who are pushing close to 300 lbs.
So imagine when they put all the gear on they are 380 lbs, god forbid they are ever in a situation where they need to be rescued
Unless a place has a posted “First Responder discount” I don’t whip out my credentials. One guy actually got in big trouble for that some years ago for going to various places and asking for FF discounts.
Also I don’t drink much anyways, maybe a dozen times out the year if I’m on vacation or with family. Alcoholism is a big problem in my field so I try to stay far away from it

Lot of black people simply do not use seat belts for whatever reason. It’s studies on this, look it up. It starts at home tho, my parents did not pull out the driveway til everyone was buckled up

Unless somebody does it out of the kindness of there heart. Some eateries will hook us up
It’s a taco truck that occasionally hooks us up with 6 pans of burritos, tacos, rice, beans, horchata
We always make sure to throw them a generous tip or something around the holidays
maaan they should. yall provide a critical selfless service to communities. im having my oldest sign up for volunteer department shyt.

Couple of guys had they fam come thru my peoples outta town tho so
My fam or girl will usually slide by on holidays if I’m working
Funny story. I was working at a station with a pole a few days ago, I’m knocked out sleeping peacefully at 2AM and the tones(alarm) go off for a fire in our area.
Lost my grip sliding down and landed flat on my ass

What's the most morbid thing you've ever witnessed in an incident?
The super passionate guys that look at firefighting as a “trade/craft” rather than just a job . Guys that are constantly looking at ways to perfect their skills then share that knowledge with others. I was blessed as a rookie FF to be a mentee under a few guys like this.
Toddler with their head blown off in a drive by this summer. The dad & cousin were a top drug guys in the area so they was trying to get them
