lol @ this being an multi part episode game. Square finally gave up and admitted there's no way they can get out a full game in a reasonable amount of time so they plan to develop it in pieces and sell it as such.

If the above tweet is true, it's nothing to be concerned about. The "remake" would get additional story stuff told sort of like how FFXIII has three games in the series.

They may eliminate the world map and remove the ability to backtrack once you complete an episode.

Then this would be a downgrade and not a remake.

each disk $39.99. One game every 2 years. Must have both a PS4 and PS5 to enjoy the whole story. Traveling the world map will be in all Cutscenes. Finished by 2025

"The Witcher 3" was $45 and 100+ hours long, with 16 pieces of free DLC, an $8 DLC that adds 10 more hours to the game, and another DLC coming out spring 2016 that adds another 20+ hours to the game for $20.

Square is just lazy/greedy. It is what it is.

When you really think about it...It kind of makes sense that the game would be episodic.

FFVII was a massive game. Even back in the day it had to be broken up over multiple discs. To remake all that by today's standards would be serious undertaking and I'd imagine they want to have something out within the next year or so.

I think its best to wait and see how this turns out instead of getting all suicidal like those guys on neogaf.

Point taken. Plus Nintendo just put out a game with damn near limitless content with a huge world bigger than the Witcher 3 and sold it for $60.

I liked Life is Strange but the wait inbetween episodes that were only 2-3 hours of gameplay was too frustrating to ignore. I can only see a negative outcome and assets of the game being cut by doing an episodic version of the game. This is basically saying there will be no world map, more Cutscenes than gameplay, and not much exploration and discovery. Might be even more on rails than the original, which I could never believe would be possible but then I remember FF13 and it all becomes too real.

It will be like a playable movie, which is kind of like how Life is Strange is which is also made by Square.
