You're underestimating the influence FIFA has with it's constituent confederations...especially UEFA. EA doesn't want any kind of antagonistic relationship coming out of this, to where FIFA can work it's brand of mischief all over the place and mess with things behind the scenes.

I mean....Konami had the UCL deal for years while EA had the FIFA name. Money trumps all that bullshyt. For all we know, they might actual recirculate the money they aint paying FIFA back into the game (Doubtful but they could come out looking like heroes).

But EA doesn't really lose shyt here. They keep player likenesses (FIFPRO) the continental cups are done by the Confederations (UEFA, CONCACAF etc.) sooooo......

FIFA want's EA to pay a billy for a name and a special mode every 4 years?
