The Air Traffic Controller union thought this when Reagan came in until he fired them all. That's why they want to Schedule F everyone...
Don’t even have to schedule F everyone. They’re only targeting career civil servants in the policy making realm. I’m seeing folks talk about strong unions and I’m like where? Fed workers can’t even strike. Their only leverage is silent quitting and/or slow walking the bureaucratic process. Crazy part is all the stuff they want to cut will have to be picked up at the state level who, depending on your state, will do even worse than the Fed.

Which agencies and positions do you guys think are most at risk?
If I had to guess

-Dept of Ed
-IRS
-HHS
-Any enforcement arms of agencies, particularly IGs. There’s like 7 that are open and Biden should be expediting filling them.
-Smithsonian or anything that educates people
-FTC
-DoJ/CIA just because
-any land management/trust agencies

Edit: Forgot EPA

Edit 2: NOAA just so they can privatize the National Weather Service

Above the fray.
I work for the same Maryland state government agency that has unemployment. If Trump follows thru with what people are speculating unemployment claims are gonna be a shyt show
Which allows Trump to hurt Gov. Moore politically. Trump and his council of clowns being who they are, will be deliberate with the timing and areas where the axe falls. Red states with Fed. workers may get delayed firings. For political purposes.

I only know @Skooby and @Coco Loco

How is it in Fed land? Everyone's morale in the shytter? I bet the vibe in PG, Loudoun, Arlington, etc. must be bad. Planning for the worst?
I'm DoD so my job is probably safe.

I'm more concerned with what benefits might get cut.

I think the issue is that Republicans are typically for mass deregulation w/o a strong understanding/appreciation for the benefits that some (many?) of the regulations IRL.

Republicans wanted the banks to be deregulated and it led to the Housing Crisis
Republicans wanted the lobbying to be deregulated and it led to billionaires and companies damn near buying elections via Citizens United
Etc, etc.

No one is saying that federal contracts are perfect. Deregulating federal contractors, will undoubtedly make the process faster. But it is highly likely that it also leads to a much more opaque bidding processes, and leads to more chances for discrimination/nepotism/bribery to arise. Also, less opportunity for government to nudge towards providing opportunities for minorities to get a leg up after being held back.

I'm a Fed worker. Everyone is on pins and needles right now. I'm using alot of my "use or lose" leave after Thanksgiving, but a lot of my employees are expecting something big.

I agree with @The Realist Perspective as well; I feel a lot of dumb people DO need to be let go. I'll look for one of my previous posts, but when Trump got in office the 1st time, I dealt with some of the worst people you can imagine. And all of them disliked me because I was young & black and they felt I didn't "deserve" my job. I expect more of the same these next 4 years.

Rumors that I've heard so far is:

-Fed workers over the age of 55 will be forced to accept a buyout to permanently retire
-They will add legislation to allow career employees to be fired/let go without consequence
-All(almost all) black clerical employees will be let go
I'm using use or lose leave as well. But I'm keeping it right at 240 hours for the new leave year. You get a check for how many hours of annual leave you have left.

And yes, There are some people on my own team that I wonder how the hell they ever made it that far.

And I think that's the Schedule F they are talking about. Making federal employees "at will" employees...meaning fired without cause.

I guess the only good thing is that the state of Maryland is always hiring for mad positions so people shouldn’t have a problem getting a job at the state level. Matter fact I can see them making that a priority if it comes to that

Idk how that shyt is with the Feds. But I know with the state even at will folks is hard to get rid of. HR be doing everything in their power to avoid drama

You should be straight as long as you’re not in the IC or some function that can’t be filled by contractors
For years congress have been talking about:

1) Getting rid of step increases. (For those of you in GS pay scale. I'm not anymore.)
2) Changing the pension calculation from your high-3 salary years to a high-5 (which effectively lowers your pension).
3) Reducing our eliminating cost of living adjustments (COLA).
4) Increasing contributions to FERS (which lowers our pay).,

There's a proposal every year but it gets turned down. But there's full control now so who knows.
