I’m off Sunday Monday so I would have missed the deadline. But I knew I wouldn’t have to answer it without it first getting verified by Headquarters and the legality of it by my union. I told my GF give it 24 hours and they will tell us not to answer it. I work for TSA under the DHS. Our jobs are need to know and protected under SSI.

These idiots downfall is that they still think they can ran a government like they do their private companies. You’re not a CEO, you’re a public servant. There’s laws to protected and prevent dictators and over reach from government entities.

It's sad to see that across the board the labor side of the agencies aren't responding in unison. A divided / fractured response is what they use to see which folks are the type to comply preemptively.


And to your point about it having to come from within the agency for it to be legitimate.....so many scary folks in so many positions. Seems like DoT worded it as you "should' comply / "encouraged" to comply. Not must/shall.


And now middle management is regurgitating the same wording......enough so that it "seems" like an official order from actual management and not Musk...so that they won't catch any heat from Musk. But worded just enough so that it's not actual order to cover themselves from liability.

a lot of the union responses have been weak....which is now gonna lead to more internal division within specific unions.


But hopefully it's lead to a stronger unified front across the different type of unions & laborers (private, federal, and otherwise)

My contract is tiny (26 total employees) and is the lead program for bigger things to come. I’m praying we don’t get descoped. We just won a five year extension two weeks ago. I think I’m good but with the way things are going with Russia…

Luckily we deal with the “real” enemy so I should be safe. I did want to go federal but I’ll wait for the next administration if we get there.

Very loosely related, when I was visiting Japan, half way thru the trip I was thinking 'damn, it's crazy that these people seem so nice, orderly, community first, etc here and yet they were down with the Nazi regime and let their government commit so much atrocities'.........but then it clicked for me that it's because the masses are orderly, don't want ruffle feathers/ are "nice".......that a few 1,000 or so guys can take over leadership and commit the country as whole down a dark path.


The reasons for the American public doing so may be different......instead nice, orderly, community first, etc.....for us it's uneducated, overworked therefore too busy to follow politics, selfish, etc........but it's the same concept that lets cats like Musk gain so much actual influence over so many people who should otherwise be opposing him.
