This thread hurts.
:mjcry:
I hope all the Coli Brehs and Brehettes survive.

My contract is tiny (26 total employees) and is the lead program for bigger things to come. I’m praying we don’t get descoped. We just won a five year extension two weeks ago. I think I’m good but with the way things are going with Russia…

Luckily we deal with the “real” enemy so I should be safe. I did want to go federal but I’ll wait for the next administration if we get there.
I would try and find out of the 5 years how many are guaranteed vs option years. If it's a sub-contract who is the primary contract holder.

Normally if it's DoD you won't have much to worry about unless there is a Government shutdown. Or some other contractor files a grievance against the contract award.

You already know. It’s a one plus 4 option years. We re-up every year. We are a sub as well but we own the assets so if they get rid of us, there is no contract and nobody can replace us.

Still its spooky but it’s better than working stateside right now.

You should be straight unless there is a shutdown. I hated option years because there was always a chance I could lose my job if the contract switched hands. I got saved once because a sub-contractor filed a grievance which locked everything in place. And gave me 6 months to find a new contract gig elsewhere.

This hospital was already understaffed, and now we've lost an entire team of veteran caregivers. The remaining staff are being pushed into overtime to keep up with patient care, and morale is at an all-time low. Leadership says they'll bring in contract workers eventually, but until then, nurses and other staff will be overworked for the foreseeable future—putting both them and patients at greater risk. This is a devastating blow, especially for the veterans who rely on this care.

It's starting to trickle down, as time goes on more people will be feeling it.

Leadership talking about bringing in "contract workers" aka temp workers from an agency making $12/hour who will be on more smoke breaks than doing actual work.
