:leostare: I'm guessing you haven't been here in years.
Why should I have to? Wages haven't really gone up, so why should the price of everything else?

I am going to go there in October and get $1 pizza slices downstairs from where my momma still lives :ahh:

How do you try to negotiate when you have no leverage at all. You are an unskilled fast food worker...you can be replaced by someone who will have mastered your job in less than a week.
Now I am in full support of these workers having proper benefits and all but asking to be paid $15/hr for a job that a trained monkey could do is ridiculous.

this is what blows me. I said it in TLR, but if they raise the wage to at least $15/hr, then more educated and skilled people will start applying for those jobs, thus taking them away from the non-skilled workers which would put them in a worse position than they are currently in now.

Whole foods pays a livable wage and there are chances to move up there, someone from my last job, got hired there starting at 12:00 an hour with medical and benefits, 3 years later she is a manager at the one at the time Warner center, the food is way healthier than fast food, this and Costco are the only places that pay people a livable wage that i know off. Edit so does Starbucks.

I also mentioned costco specifically in TLR thread on this as well. if ur unskilled labor, you should always be hustling to find that next better job. like you mentioned, costco pays well and has good benefits from what I hear. hell, if ur gonna work fast food, u could even step it up to white castle. they pay AT LEAST $10/hr and offer benefits as well. white castle is known for being one of the better fast food jobs. no one is forcing these people to make a career outta these shyt jobs. basically I'm just saying, there are always better potential employment options for anyone regardless of their skill level. you just gotta grind and go and get them yourself.

i hope the people wanting to raise the minumum wage arent the same people pushing for immigration amnesty

at the end of the day there are millions of illegals that would give their left nut to work for $7 an hour

the american economy has excess labor, corporations don't have any reason to raise the wage as long as that is the case

Lol @ people not wanting to raise the minimum wage. If companies dont pay a living wage then you end up paying for these people through taxes and govt assistance programs while the companies profit.

And if they werent working there for min wage they'd be receiving more gvt assistance.

Technically, they have a lot of leverage, I mean.. those bottom of the barrel workers make everything run so they can send their profits up to the corporate guys who make all the money. But like I said, minimum wage needs to be raised to a living wage, not just for McDonalds. I don't think educated and "skilled" people would want to work there, unless they make less at their current job, then that job would obviously have to offer their employees something more to keep them employed.

well this is what I was getting at earlier. at $15/hr, they'd be making more than some college graduates. I bet you they'd be all over those jobs if they couldn't find something in their field of study that paid more.

personally, I'm not about doing damn near any job if they about payin me that bread.
