I think we as console gamers fail to understand what it takes to really run native 4k.

When you play PC you realize 2K is fine and those resources are better utilized maximizing the framerate.

But yea it takes a lot of power to run at real native 4k with a decent framerate.

It is kind've odd that those with more powerful hardware (PC players) care less about resolution than those with lesser hardware (console gamers). 4K has become a buzzword in the console wars. We need to care more about framerate.

A large portion of PC players still play on 1080p monitors cause it looks fine and they can get 240fps.

We need to get expectations in check. Not to say they won't figure it out, but it's just not that important imo.

High frame rate is for competitive gaming and those games aren't graphically demanding on PC

people only talk about that crap with FPS shooters

Nobody trying to play no AAA games on PC in 1080p not in no damn 2020, I would rather play 4k 60 on PC do 1080p 120 fps

And I would rather play 1440 120fps than 4k 60.

What I'm not understanding is how people that know a little about computers are falling for the bullshyt.

If the cheapest GPU that runs native 4k/60 efficiently is like $400 by itself(RX 5700), then how the hell is a $400 game console supposed to run 4k/60? I would think the price tag would have to be at a couple hundred dollars more in order to build a console that can run most games at native 4k/60 because you still haven't factored in the price of a CPU, RAM, motherboard, etc

Show me Horizon Zero Dawn on PC running 2k 120fps

witcher 3 can't run 120fps on 1440p with all the settings turned to low on the best hardware

games are only getting more graphically demanding

2080ti ain't gonna be able to run horizon zero dawn 2 at 2k 60 without a struggle

This is kind've my point actually.

You say that as if 4k 60 will be any easier.

My point is they should use 2560x1440 to get more frames instead of sacrificing frames so they can say it's 4k.

And I just beat Witcher 3 at 1440 on my 2070 and got between 80-100 fps in my play through on high.

But yea you are kind've arguing the same point as me. That hardware isn't strong enough to focus on 4k, so we should focus on maximizing framerate on 2k.

The difference in fidelity to the naked eye between 2k and 4k imo is not worth the sacrifice in framerate given the strength of available hardware.

Not to mention I have a feeling these companies aiming for 4k 60fps are really going to be more like 4k 45fps as they target 60 but fail half the time.
