Lost in Time is my favorite track on the album. The whole album impressed me as a whole though I hold Cats & Dogs as my favorite Ev album.
My favorite song too. And my favorite album he's done so far.

It may be forgotten now, but Cats & Dogs was highly anticipated and had been delayed by a couple years. There were a lot of expectations going into that one, and he not only avoided a sophomore slump, but he really delivered. I'll never forget too that it dropped on the same day as Phonte's first solo rap album, and 9th Wonder's album. And Ev, Phonte, and 9th were all on each other's albums that day too.

I may have bought a CD here and there since then, but I'm 99% sure that was the last day I bought multiple CDs at on the same day.

Man this feels like the most uncut raw version of Ev we've seen. Feels like an underground mixtape especially with the scratching and the samples throughout.

Some of these tracks really hit me, I've had a rough week at work and this has made me really look at myself and own some of the decisions I've made.

Its hard to believe I've been listening to Ev for 20 years and it still feels like the best is yet to come. His confidence in his honest and open approach seems to be at an all time high with no fukks given, at the same time it feels like one big stream of consciousness.

I need to spend a lot more time with this album though.
That's really dope. Any music that can make you look at yourself and think about your life is really cool, I think.

Yesterday someone asked why Ev was so relatable, because they wanted to explain it to someone else, but couldn't put their finger on it. I thought about it. Not sure if this is it, but I think it's related to what you bolded.

Ev is real up front and honest about the ills of life, but he doesn't milk it for attention. He'll talk about his fukk ups and his hardships without being overly emo about it. He could've made Mood Muzik type albums, but he didn't make a career off of depressing music. Like, he's a fairly well known indie artist, but he's not a household name, and he's not wealthy. He's a single dad that has bills to pay. Like most of us, he has to pick himself up every day and go out there and keep working, keep living life, and keep trying to do the best he can. I think that's something we all can relate to. And I think a lot of people wish they could be more open and vulnerable about their lives without coming across like they're complaining or needing attention.

And he's gone from being a decent emcee and producer to a very dope one, but he clearly had to work hard to improve to that level. I think most of us can also relate to picking up a life skill through hard work, and not just being the most naturally gifted person in the room. It took years for him to be able to rap on songs with Roc Marci, Raekwon, Conway, Phonte, etc, and hold his own.

100 man, he's definitely an everyman and the fact he's now a widower and a single father only adds to that depth and relatability. He's honest without being depressing and communicates the struggles clearly without sounding like a preacher.

The facts he's never been super successful adds to that relatability as well as most of us have gone through the same life stages as him and have had similar ups and downs. He's also never been condescending as a rapper in that he doesn't stunt on his fans or tell them he'll fukk their wife haha.

He's definitely got a place in my top 10 for sure.

Been a fan since Dilated but his solo stuff The Weatherman has been solid for the last 12-13 years

One of my all time favorites

Love that joint. I got a crazy story with it. I bought that album the day it dropped while fukked up on drugs. There wasn't much I spent money on besides drugs back then, besides the occasional CD. I remember that song was playing when I was parked in the car with my girl, and we were waiting to meet my dealer listening to it. And I got super depressed that he was rapping about having this happy ass day while my life was crazy fukked up. I remember wishing I could get my life together and have a day as nice as the one in that song.

I got clean by the end of that year, and I've been good since then, and I remember listening to the Pardon Me single off this album, and hearing the beat made me appreciate that I'm really blessed to be alive, healthy, and relatively happy while waiting for this new Ev album.
