Weatherman LP was flames. I think he would like that one.

Phonte on the hook and produced by ALC)

No doubt. I think most people would like Weatherman too. The only reason I sometimes hesitate to recommend it first is because I do think his flow and delivery improved after that one, and he expanded beyond just doing the Slow Flow style.

So if people don't like slow flow as much, sometimes I think they might like to start with some of his newer work. But no doubt. And if you told me you thought Weatherman was his best album, I wouldn't really argue with you.

I had put mad people on Evidence in Atlanta through that Weather Man and Layover Era. I never even realized that people had issues with his flow to be honest.

You're probably in for a pleasant surprise. If you listen to anything else from him, I wouldn't go all the way back to Weatherman, which is what a lot of people would say.

I'd suggest Cats & Dogs or Weather or Not.

This album sounds way more minimalist and subdued than his Weather series solo projects so far. Most of those have bigger sounding beats, more features, etc.
Yeah I’m getting to the end of this one and in this era where a lot of rappers make albums that are a chore to get through this one flew by and like you said I’m pleasantly surprised.

The only song I’d heard of his before this album was this one:

Which is great in its own right but one thing that jumps out to me is he has a great ear

You're definitely in for some good music then. @darealvelle can probably vouch that Ev might have a top 5 ear in the game. If nothing else, the production on his albums is always top notch. You can always count on bangers from Primo, Alc, Nottz, Jake One, Khrysis, and guys like that.

He makes beats too, and usually produces a little bit on his own albums, but he knows some of his friends are better producers than him, and he's smart enough to use them.

His ear is up there with Ross, Currensy, etc.

I'll be honest the singles from this album were the least interesting/exciting singles he's ever dropped to me but when they sit in the body of the album they work perfectly.

This really needs to be digested as a whole body of work.
Yep. I just listened to his podcast with AFH, and he said he went out of his way to pick album cuts as the singles for the album. Definitely a strange choice, but yeah, in the context of the album, it works out.

And re: the bolded, he also said that he wanted the album to just be one 45 minute track, and that he kicked around the idea with the label, and they agreed that it was a kind of a stupid idea for streaming, and would frustrate people. I'm glad they didn't do that.

He also said he sequenced the album as if it was a live show. And that's why some songs are one verse, some are three verses, some end abruptly, etc.

Can you link me to the podcast breh? I'm not familiar with AFH. I'm glad he didn't release it as one track. I remember a New Zealand did that with a mixtape about 10 years ago and I definitely played it a lot less because I couldn't just listen to what I wanted.

It should pop up here soon for Spotify (What's The Headline) and Apple (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/whats-the-headline/id1504329475)

but until then, it's here on youtube below, and if you open up the whole video, there are time-codes for the different topics.

Why isn't this stickied?
I don't know. At first I thought it was just an oversight, but now I don't think so.

The weird thing too is his last album was stickied. The last Dilated album was stickied. The last Step Bros album was stickied.

This is the first one that hasn't been. Ev's been a dope artist that's kept us fed for years, and deserves some support as a widowed single father, and a thread being stickied has been shown on here to make a real big difference.

I'll tag @FreshAIG and see if he knows anything
