I had a radio show and video show plus I'm a music producer so it was a cool way to network. That's how social media should be used. To connect with people with common interest or hobbies. I think it went down hill when people started to use it as an escape or a way to broadcast their otherwise boring lives. It's like a giant high school. I fell into the trap with my last GF when she used to share everything and it got to her head. Now, I'm dating a woman who don't have anything and I'm seeing the perspective. I'm not even gonna post her pic or anything we do. It's been a blessing. I go through bouts of anti-social behavior and just log off for months. If I didn't have my music page on there I would get rid of it. I still might. It's nothing but mindless poison and people sharing their dumb opinions when otherwise they would be told to sit their dumbass down and shut the fukk up.

needed a thread for us all to congregate :blessed:

i been without mine for almost a month, i just quit my job about 2 weeks ago and was extremely tempted to bring it back cause i lost touch with quite a few people who would be too awkward to text, but its cool you gotta let go of certain people to move forward

i decided to delete mine mainly because the cats who first put me on FB back whe nit was invite only are all off there now, plus that shyt is a stagnant cess pool of filth now :scusthov:

inb4 "b b b but the coli is social media too" except for the fact the coli is way more entertaining than FB and way less personal, i've spent my time away from the coli as well cause too much of anything is bad imo
If it wasn't for my African and American fam and Facebook chat with them. I would have been gone.

My lady has a fb so I pretty much know what people are doing all the time anyway. I hate it though....maybe If I was in my early 20s and single I might be up in it trying to get some puss.

I post beats on facebook but not many people are interested though.

fukk them, post them on here if you haven't. I notice that tends to happen a lot. A few of my friends are heavy into music, and I make sure I always give their stuff a listen & give them my honest feedback. They tend to really appreciate it.

Seriously? How do you network then? I HATE LinkedIn but I have to have it if I want to advance my career. Recruiters are on there heavy.
you dont need it for shyt.

more times you send people messages on linkedin they dont reply anyways. youre better off guessing what their email is based on their name/company and then sending an email. if youre really serious take it a step further and fedex them a little package. anything to stand out.

also, id rather network in realife.

I used to post personal stuff like 3 years ago when i was in a really bad psychotic mindstate.
Than i felt so ashamed afterwards that i once deleted my facebook account. Like a year later i went back and stopped doing that and now facebook seems to be pretty cool with me.

its a bit different if you work in tech my dude. i've literally been contacted countless times on linkedin. if it wasn't for countless recruiters reaching out to me through it, i would have deaded it a long time ago. i guess it's different from ppl in your field, whatever it is.

i feel you on "real life" networking, but its a bit of a crapshoot too. i spent a long time schmoozzing in my last year of uni and out of the countless ppl i talk to its only maybe 2 that i still talk to now and we are buddies. one of the guys i was i guess "using" to get a job, lost his job right about the time i got my full time job. so he is currently jobless and is finding it tough, but yoo he's such a nice guy, like we are totally buddies, it's none of that professional, stiff bs.

The number one thing i hate is how people act like you cant leave facebook. Or you cant just delete your account or deactivate it. Like somebody is literally pointing a gun at your head saying you cant leave.

"I hate facebook but all my friends are on there..."
"But i need it for my work...."

Making endless excuses yet they still complaining about facebook...but they wont delete their account cause deep down they want to belong to this social media quagmire in one way or another and not feel like another brick in the wall.

There are even "i hate facebook" pages...on facebook. How ass backwards is that?

Just leave then...but they cant cause they weak willed.
